I guess this is the novel the manga is based on? I’m not much help as I can’t access any of the chapters so I’m not sure if it is presented like a traditional novel (paragraphs and chapters) or if it reads like a manga/manhwa (graphic panels).
Yes it is novel/story. It has chapters some bonus art included. And current manhwa which has only 10 eps has been stopped for an unknown reason. anyway it is said that the story shows two time periods, first is what we see - possessive and abusive emperor and his toxic relationship with MC which ends with tragedy for many characters.
Second is time period of them being in the same team, where emperor reborns as different person. He has same feelings towards MC but not abusive as when he was emperor.
Novel does not have English translation so I have read using Google translate and I should say I could understand it barely. Anyway story shows that how environment affects on person's character and behaviour towards others. So tbh I did kinda like ML at the last chps, even tho couldn't finish it lol
