It was the most pleasant surprise to find such a subtle and well-written queerplatonic friendship in this lighthearted romcom. Well, it's subtle until you're rereading the manga and it becomes more apparent that Misuzu has it bad for Tomo and would've jumped at the chance to be with her had Tomo been less straight and less into sports (the spheres Jun thrived in, whereas Misuszu realized she'd never be able to keep up with Tomo in physical activities). I absolutely adore how rereading this manga with Misuzu's perspective would given you this tragecomic unrequited love story between an ice queen and her tomboy best friend who's into their other childhood friend who happens to be the Straightest Boy Alive (which, while we adore Jun for his blockheadedness, it admitedly gave Tomo a lot of grief that Misuzu took advantage of in order to bond more with her bestie). And does our girl Misuzu give Tomo up without a fight? Hell no. She makes Jun suffer as much as she can, but ultimately she does concede that Tomo would be better off with Jun. Which just makes me so glad Misuzu and Carol have each other. What I love about their friendship is how it started off as this hilarious attempt to use each other, but gradually grew into mutual respect for one another. They started off as friends of convenience into people who hung out because they actually liked one another, had similar girly interests despite being 2 different kind of girly girls, AND helped each other scheme and grow~ UGH the Misuzu x Carol friendship should be its own post because I didn't expect it to grow that deep ok. Carol being a troll at Misuzu's level was so unexpected and so delightful.
My personal headcannon is that Jun's become a lot sappier since he method acted being a tree
