Just read the novel and this mf got a harem. Im so freaking disappointed but not surprised cause why do they always do this?!

I do understand what you mean but historically and along with his father, he married out of power and structure. He had to align the powerhouses to his side therefore having to marry their daughters, so he can have more political power.. Its a mutual benificial relationship. But in his case, he married all the women who fell in love with him, no relations to politics or power, just women who are annoyingly part of the story to exist as brainless idiots who sole purpose is to be obsessed and kiss ml’s ass.

I see your point. I do think that harems are often written because authors either don’t care to build a solid love story with a single character or because they’re entertaining this fantasy of one guy having multiple beautiful women all over him. However I’ve almost always dropped stories with harems that didn’t have a pre-established narrative so I can’t speak on whether the romance is one sided or not. All I know is that as you said, it often seems like it’s the women who fall and the guy who basically doesn’t make a decision. He just accepts it as par for the course. I think one of the rare stories where I’m okay with the harem route is Absolute Sword Sense because of how the whole thing is handled.
