Oh that's just ... revenge, I guess. For that 8 trillion plots revolving around a female struggling emotionally, physically, economically as if its MANDATORY to struggle for a man.
To be honest, I am even inclined to think that a plot along the lines of "and they both struggled to find a common ground on which they could meet" is only satisfactory, when
a) both cover the same distance
b) have a comparable starting point.
"He struggled to find free parking space for his inhumanely overpriced vehicle because he's obcenely loaded" does not quite cover this.
(oh, please don't take this rant personally, my inner aggravated bluestocking is recalcitrant as of lately and easily incensed)
