Okay, so basically what happened is the following:
The FL and the count used to know each other, and they basically got along, but they had an argument which led them apart. The Count wanted to reunite with the FL by taking in the ML and caring for him. Of course, the ML is hurt because he's going to believe that everything was a lie and that he served no purpose for the Count, but to bring the FL back to her.
The bird was the Count.
The girl was the FL.
The puppy was the ML.
This story is really messed up tbh.
