Don't take it personal, Japanese culture as a whole is notoriously xenophobic and isolated. They present cartoons versions of all cultures alike. For instance all white foreigners are always blond, latinx characters don't exist, and other Asian cultures are never included other than Chinese (and usually in a negative connotation). I feel so bad for Kou and I will never forgive Tsukasa for doing what he did to Mitsuba. While the current Mitsuba is still "Mitsuba" in a sense, being that he was made with a part of him, he isn't the original. The Mitsuba that Kou is looking for doesn't exist anymore, and it hurts seeing him finally come to terms with that :(
