I feel like somewhere along the line during the transition from season 1 to season 2 the authors vision got muddied. Matthew went from being the level leaded voice of reason to stereotypical sociopathic rapist lover and Hayoung became a child for some reason (like he went into a car wash a grown man and came out a twink). Idk I just think the author jumped too fast into developing another couple instead of building up the main couple a bit more. Like more time should’ve been spent on Ian and Jaeho until they knew the proper direction they wanted to go in with these two.
