The combination of pacing, art style, and character expression that fits the story. I believe no matter what the story is, as long as those 3 aspects is great, the manga will come out great. reply
For me, my friends and family know that I will read any manga (and watch any movie) as long as it's a masterpiece kind of work. So if I tell them I read yaoi manga they always assume it's some kind of artsy masterpiece thing (like Hagio Moto or Keiko Takemiya's work), little do they know most of I read is borderline porn.
