The duke is one of the shittiest characters imho. Why is he still clung unto the hope that Cliff could be a good heir? Anyone have a spoiler/insight about his attitude in the novel, even if it the story changed so much up to now?
I just can't wrap my head around this. Sounds like a golden child situation and a narcissist father doting exclusively on a shit ass son.
well, he was 'written' that way. And in this chapter he even says he doesn't understand why he acted that way.. as if it was something he didn't feel he would do but he was compelled. These characters weren't in control of themselves, for a long time at least. That's why I agree more with how the Manhwa handles the story so far, vs the book ( which I didn't read, but read spoilers).

I understand he was wrote that way, but I'm referring that even now, after the third restriction was met and thus everyone "liberated", he just took the title of heir away from Cliff and told him he can prove himself in order to regain said title.
Even after the evil deeds from Reeze came to light and Cliff was, at least presumed to be, involved in everything, he still was given the option to regain the title of heir, which is fucking bonkers to me lmao.
I feel like, here in the manhwa, they are properly tying up loose ends with every character but the duke (⌒▽⌒)
I think if you allow the imagination of it, the duke has woken up from brain washing and likely is extending the idea of confusion to his son. He’s already granted Killeen the county, so he still needs some heir to inherit the dukedom. Moreover, it may be a political move as to not punish cliff to hard to not dishonor their name.
In the original novel there is no punishment, Edith and Killian quietly retire to their own estate with their own title and the rest go on as planned. It seems the manhwa could only deviate so much...

I thought I read a spoiler for the book that said something to the effect that the Duke and Duchess lost everything? Or something...
The duke and duchess lost nothing. They just chilled. Rise marries cliff and ruins her own life. After a few years and a side story, she gets sent to an abbey, cliff remarries. The duke and duchess aren’t really mentioned at all. I can’t even recall if cliff actually inherits his title by the end of the novel

hmm, well, perhaps it was a spoiler for another one I'm reading... there are so (too) many..

In the novel, rather than Brian washing completely it was more-so like they were influenced. So even after lize’s power wore off, the parents and cliff still liked her even thought they knew what she had done. It was mainly due to being attached to her seeing her grow up over the years. They still cared for her.

Cliff definitely inherits the title, since Killian didn’t want it.
Also the father was the one who agreed with cliff and still thought Edith was suspicious even when she was brought back with all those injuries. He made sure to keep her in a cell temporarily until they investigate. I don’t remember if the parents apologized, but if they did, it wasn’t big enough for me to remember lmao.
Cliff inherited the duke title and married lize. Lize started showing her true colors to everyone and started spending tons of money for parties and all kinds of stuff. Meanwhile, killian and Edith just left them all to their own estate and lived peacefully. The parents and cliff got tired and upset at lize’s spending. It was becoming a problem that lize and cliff fought over.
Oh yeah, i just “read” ch 69 and 70. Omg I’m speechless Grecollage
Yeah, Yoonsung was actually piecing his memories back all this time--those suspicious looks and cryptic words. Our boy was playing the long game, he doesn't want to spook Hakyung and risk him running awayლ(´ڡ`ლ)
Yeah like I remember that ugly old ass never appeared again after heyang rejected his ugly old ass. PannyP.
yeah, sounds about right. They may want to create a final dramatic scene, like a kidnapping scene, before they officially get back together bc He Yang saved Xu Chengyan
