It’s a manga where this girl reincarnates as a maid, like her actually character name is smth like maid b, but the hero falls in love with her. The thing is, that the hero is so overpowered and so dangerous, that everyone around her is begging her to not turn him down in fear of what would happen if she did.

Idk, this story was basic as hell.
The dynamic between the two is not the main problem of this story. In fact, it’s probably the only thing that gives it flavor. Even still, I never got the sense that the sister was a real person, just a plot device. So though the brother-in-law taboo was technically there, and definitely noticeable, I didn’t feel much of anything at all. (Also, the story really wants to drive home how totally okay she is with it… which is definitely a narrative choice.)
The other characters get a similar treatment. The widow is just a guy, his personality is… he likes the mc? The mc’s personality is being good at housework and kind of like a woman? Their relationship is even less developed. I still don’t get why the two of them even like each other, much less love each other so much that it’s unbearable. The only thing I see is a housekeeper and their employer. They only really ever talk about work or housework, and sometimes the sister.
This isn’t even that bad. It’s just boring and underdeveloped. Honestly, go spend your time reading a better— or just more interesting— manga.
I think it just suffered from having the short story format, there's not enough time to explore their own personalities. Even so, I know other short stories with a better storytelling than this, so I get what you mean. Yeah, the sister was just a plot device to show a type of forbidden love, but even so I didn't get the sense that they're going "me and you against the world", it's more of just a codependence and a way to overcome the grief. If there's anything I'd change to make this story better in my opinion, I think they should go their separate ways and grow and heal on their own. Then when they meet again, their real love story will start and that will be better than this stagnant codependence that they have right now.
Yeah it could definitely be that there’s only six chapters, but as you said— there are amazing stories in this same format without this issue. So I think the problem is the author bit off more than they could chew, and tackled a story they weren’t 100% prepared to tell.
For the sister, I think you’re right and I missed what the author was going for, which was not to focus on the taboo but to talk about grief. However, I still think the sister being treated less like a character and more like a plot device is still a valid criticism even with this interpretation. (IMO, it’s probably an even worse issue if viewed this way.)
And for the ending, what you suggest would definitely improve the story by a long shot. Maybe even an open ending, where it’s not explicitly stated if they get together or not, could make this story far more memorable. The fact that they never got over their codependency is definitely a choice the author made. Not only that, but they barely “moved on” over the sister’s death before they started going at it.
Even so, I think the problems this story have run way too deep that the best way to improve it would to completely start over LMAO

I read another one of the author's stories (Umi de Hirotta Kimi ni Sasagu) to try to see whether you were right, and I think you are haha. I liked that story much more than this one. It was also a short story format in 6 chapters but I think it told a better story. Maybe this was just a case of hit-and-miss; for a prolific writer as the author I guess some stories won't be as good as the other ones.
Anyways what are we doing here lol this is looking like a literary analysis class I've had in college. I enjoyed it though hahaha
