Can someone recommend me a good historical manhwa please? One with a strong female lead.

    Beware of the villainess
    I think I've possessed somewhere
Here comes the silver spoon (I love the leads so freaking much, the FL is awesome)
    Villainess is retiring
    Caught by the villain
    Light and Shadow (ig)
I've fallen for the empire's greatest villainess
The tyrant wants to be good

Does the art style really matter? Im always seeing people complain about the art on some stories and lately those comments seem to be increasing. Art is art and at the end of the day it isn't meant to appeal to everyone.

I had an argument with someone over this because they insisted that it's been over a year and the "author still hasn't improved on their art so why bother" first off the author isn't the artist in most of these stories.. most authors will take samples from an artist and go with what they like and what best suits their story no?

I understand that the art is what people will gravitate more towards when it comes to the story they are reading but I am someone who really could care less about the art.. im more there for the story/author (yes good art and a good story is always nice to have but it isn't the end of the world for me) I have never let the art distract me from a really good story and it seems a lot of people disagree with me on that and will even drop the story.

I guess I just want other people's opinion on this..

Personally, I think it depends for me. If I go in and the art is very specific style that I fall in love with, yes. I am bothered when it deviates. Especially if the art is carrying a lukewarm storyline (though sometimes we get fantastic art and plot omg.) And I don’t mean in the “oh, they clearly handed it over to another cleaner during these panels” way, though you can tell, because it returns to the usual art for the majority of the work. But I mean in the way of, oh, you put in 110% for the first 15 chapters and drop to 60% effort once you acquired a base of fans (I presume paying since I buy most of my works and only come here to build one big library or find scans most sites don’t have) then it’s that feeling of “this isn’t what I’m paying for or supporting you for.” Or I supposed if someone isn’t paying it’s still that feeling of immersion, like “these don’t feel like the same characters, I can’t pick up where I left off.” Like watching a recast of your favorite character during a sequel or new season. It’s never quite the same even if the plot is just as good.

Now, if I go into a work and the art is kind of personalized in a wonky fashion off the bat, an acquired taste that I’m not super attached to but I DIG the plot? I’m more likely than not going to be super attentive or bothered when they improve or deteriorate here or there unless it’s to the point of being absolute garbage stick figures because that’s the power of the plot.

Hope this gave some insight, it’s just my opinion and I always appreciate getting new works regardless as I am an avid reader and cycle through so many visual pieces on top of my extensive novels already. My wallet suffers at my whims haha.

Depends. If your art is giving me a headache then your plot really doesn't matter, I'm looking at you author of Love Shuttle.

imo it does matter a lot. however, a lot of people have different tastes, i could feel like the arts great and another person could hate it. also, i think a really good plot can make up for bad art, but good art can't make up for a really bad plot. so it matters, but not more than the story i guess

art can honestly influence viewing experience a ton. its because the art literally changes the mood and meaning of the story. think of what art rly means, normally its used to convey emotion or an idea. in comic form its used to enhance or convey parts of the story that are important.

the example i like to use is my secret stalker. i would have definitely dropped this if it wasnt for the art ngl, not in that i stayed for the good art. but its because the art changed the meaning of the story. the art style in my secret stalker has a certain feel that it makes u feel just how cozy & comfortable the mc is by receiving care from the stalker. even when the ml is quite literally stalking him u can understand how much the mc enjoys it without him having to say a word. i genuinely do not think that any other artstyle would've been able to convey the coziness. it wouldve just come across as creepy and weird & i probably wouldve dropped it.

tbh this is a rarity tho, most often art only separates a good story from a great story. theres plenty of stories where the art is used to convey other emotions like loneliness, dread, anguish etc, just by their usage of paneling for example reunion & sangyang. i think without the great paneling they would still be good stories regardless, but their command over the art honestly makes them great imo.

It rlly depends cs I’d get down wit an artstyle I don’t really like if the story tea, but also the style can rlly add to how I feel about a story depending if it matches the story vibe yfm?
I honestly rlly don’t got a set opinion on this tho cs i do feel like art is art sometimes and will enjoy the story with its uniqueness but at other times im not reading a story cs i cant get into the artstyle like for example i absolutely cannot get into cherry crush

I’m looking for a yaoi where the uke is a werewolf and the seme is human but there’s like this “war” going on between the two “species” and the seme hides his identity from the uke. Also I think it’s the seme who pursues the uke first. It’s also very like historical? It’s definitely not a modern one that I’m sure of.
