I saw a video on TikTok which was about this girl complaining about this Haikyu FanFic called "bottle cap" on AO3
She was explaining about how disturbed & traumatized she was about the fic and now she couldn't see the characters the same and started to went on about how people have the audacity to write these type of stories with "triggering" content and how it's not suitable for the readers.

Okay lets tackle some things here shall we
(If you don't agree with my opinons then please share with me yours, it'd be lovely to hear others views on this topic :) )


- 1. I think the most problematic thing when it comes to the FanFic community is when discussing or including triggering or disturbing contents they tend to leave proper warnings and tags. I understand that girl was disturbed but the Fic did include a trigger warning but she went on and continued reading it anyways so that was her fault not the author

-2. Why should you control what an author gets to write. The author does not have to please you, the author gets to decide on what to write. If it doesn't meet your expectations then don't consume it. No one is asking for you to. The author shouldn't get blamed for what they write sinply because it triggers you and if children consume it, again it's not the authors fault but the parents since they don't watch what their own children consume.

Again for the FanFic community i strongly recommend that if you are going to include disturbing content then please educate yourself on the topic a little bit more before writing so you can have a better understanding of it. Researching things can definetly change your writing also!!
And if you are going to write stuff that may contain things mature then add mature tags!!

I again understand what the girl feels but the girl mentioned when she started reading the first paragraph she felt as if it was too much for her. Okay? Isn't it common sense that you drop the book? I don't understand why you had to go out of your way to shame the author simply because it didn't suit your tastes?
She also mentioned how she was bothered by the comments and that people who enjoyed the story should be put in a mental hospital, okay love i get that you are traumatized but if people enjoyed the book, then they enjoyed it. How is it harming you in anyway.

Anyways im excited to hear your insights on this if you do have any, and feel free to leave your opinions!!
