Why when someone speaks about an other person, sometimes he uses "them", even if is talking about one person? (don't know if i am clear...for exemple, when someone says "I like them" but he only loves one person)
Is it because he doesn't want people to know if is talking about a girl or a boy?

In English them / their is used if we don't know or don't want to specify what gender the person being talked about is.
In this case, the person he's talking about probably doesn't know that the person in question is a guy. Also in the Japanese they're probably saying "you like *that person*"
