I really don’t understand this even after going back to earlier chapters.
The author hint it in the previous chapters but later on in the story, they announced that Cain was actually dog in his past life which would explain his name, why he calls Jooin "master" and that he's used to sleeping on the floor. And if you look closely on the cover of the book...Cain is wearing a dog collar.
