i don’t mean to sound rude but i believe that the author is bringing up the fact that yahwi and jooin knew i leach other in childhood as an act of desperation...
a lot of people tend to root for childhood lovers which i understand bc i’m a bitch for the “knew each other as kids and found each other as adults” trope but this just isn’t it.
there was no inclination that yahwi and jooin knew eachother as children until i would like to say a majority of the readers in both korea and the US began to truly dislike yahwi as a character and how he’s been treating jooin.
idk this is just speculation, i could be completely wrong and this could’ve been planned from the beginning but it just seems random
i hope none of y’all think that nakyum’s “feelings” are actually love... don’t go switching up now from that “i just can’t forgive seungho” narrative just bc nk is literally suffering from stockholm syndrome
I think Nakyum has love for him and not stockholm syndrome but I still can't forgive Seungho at all (obviously). I just think thalt the author is going to make Nakyum have actual feelings for him even though the relationship is beyond toxic. But idk maybe they won't end up together because his feelings were like the suspension bridge effect and it was foreshadowing.
He does not love him, he really doesn’t. What on God’s green Earth has happened for him to fall in love? He only “loves” him after he heard his confessions whilst he was in a severely vulnerable state. This is a text book presentation of Stockholm Syndrome, point blank period. There is no love in this relationship but a manipulator and a captive who has fallen prey. He has been raped on numerous occasions against his will, and mind you this whole event started because Seungho wanted to fulfil his selfish desires and probably planned to have his way with him at some point in another. This is not love, this is a survival instinct
But didn't he like him before that? I remember but I might be wrong where he has signs of loving Seungho. Like his heart beating not out of fear and somethings else. I don't approve of it but the author might've made Nakyum genuinely love him. That's what I see a lot in these toxic relationships even if it is point blank stockhalm syndrime However, after this chapter, that might not be the case because the sister was explaining to him why it wouldn't be. I really don't know what would've maee him fall in love with Seungho, I'm just toing off experience with these type of stories.
y’all talking ab endhawks... hawks could literally be endeavors child, that’s how big their age difference is... y’all continue to amaze me
my personal comfort? i never said age difference was inherently toxic is just weird. also i never said someone couldn’t like it... i just said it’s weird to me and that’s valid just like someone shipping it.
i’m not sorry that i don’t ship an abuser with someone who is the same age as his oldest child lolz
all right girls and gays time for me to give my unnecessarily long opinion
okay so this story excited me at the beginning even though i’m not one for love triangles. i thought the concept was cool and i liked the characters and the art, immaculate. but as the story began to continue i found myself unsatisfied with the way things were panning out.
now i think i need to reread it again in one sitting just to give a more accurate opinion but i remember the tone of this story just flipping on its head. it seemed as though haesoo was genuinely tired of what he and jowoon were doing. not because of their parents or society’s disapproval, but because it was physically and mentally draining him. i thought he was going to be able to break away from tht
then taku is introduced, once we truly are able to see his character as he is, its understandable that he isn’t a “beacon of light” or someone who will sweep haesoo off his feet bc he is also a jealous and manipulative person. however it is to a lesser extent when compared to how jowoon AND haesoo manipulated eachother throughout hs and into adulthood.
there is also so much that taku was able to discover about himself when he formed an official relationship with haesoo, he realized that he is capable of loving someone and that he genuinely wants someone to love him back. this is where i was excited because i thought we would be able to see haesoo’s growth outside of his relationship with jowoon which we can predict is the only one he’s ever had. that’s another reason why i wanted him to be able to build his relationship w/ taku, one where they learn to mutually respect and communicate with one another.
however, the story oddly turns to a bunch of high school flashbacks and if i’m honest, they didn’t provide anything for me. they didnt make me understand jowoon better as a character, nor did they make his actions redeemable. it was just weird...
if i’m being completely honest what disappointed me the most is that we didn’t get to see much character growth for jowoon and haesoo, they just revert back to who they were at the beginning of the story but this time jowoon is going to “take responsibilities for his acrions” idk that was very shallow to me lolz.
but taku’s character?????? muah muah muah. so much character growth made my heart go brrr. if i’m being fair, i think he did need to be rejected in order to really understand himself and grow into himself but i think haesoo picking jowoon instead of just trying to grow individually, meeeh.
anyways i’m gonna end this all by saying this is all just an opinion and i’m glad there are people who love this story bc i think it has some really good aspects and JAWDROPPING art <3
uhhh the highschool flashbacks were literally about how joowon didnt know how to take responsibility for his actions when he attacked that bully, and his father told him that haesoo can clear things up for him. this parallels their future relationship. because the main problem with haesoo and joowon was that they wanted to be together without "officially" being together because of the consequences they could face. when the bullying scandal gets brought up again joowon realizes that he cant go on like this, so he straight up says he assaulted the guy of his own accord in order to protect haesoo. he takes the hit for his actions in the past and present, and he also confronts his dad in like the next chapter. so yeah, it's all about joowon taking responsibility for mistakes that he made because he was reckless or didn't think things fully through. and it parallels his relationship with haesoo which he'd been so scared of moving forward in because he thought haesoo would abandon him, haesoo would lose his mom, he would lose his dad, etc. he didnt want to face all those consequences. haesoo had similar problems, but those don't have to do with the flashbacks as much. also: haesoo's whole thing about being an "individual" on his own, without joowon, is what the 3 year timeskip is about. it will be talked about in the next chapter, but haesoo went to study 3 years abroad and took time for himself for this reason.
idk where youre seeing all this amazing taku development because frankly I dont. obviously he had some change, but he was selfish towards haesoo till the end, especially in this chapter. he rarely if ever actually cared about how haesoo ACTUALLY felt during their relationship. taku's development and issues are honestly not adressed fully, unlike Joowon who makes complete realizations and repents for the things he did wrong. with taku he's just crying over his heartbreak like.... he did not care about haesoo's feelings in hindsight. i think these two comments kinda explains my thoughts:

personally i think this is just a difference of perception. i don’t see jowoon finally taking responsibility for his actions like 7 years later as development.
i think taku admitting that he doesn’t want haesoo to be happy at first is a big part of his character, he’s a selfish lover. taku crying over his heartbreak is completely out of character, or as his friend said, he was finally able to reveal his true self, his true feelings that had been bottled up. i think the symbolism w/ the candy jar was a rly nice touch personally.
but yeah for me personally the hs flashbacks were just like, really??? it’s been like 6 yrs and now you’re taking responsibility, bye...
but yeah i personally didn’t like this story as a whole. i see what you’re saying i just don’t agree with it!
solving your problems with decent communication??
never heard of that we just have sex
