I completely agree. The thing that makes stories like this fun for me to read is that I think that's exactly what the authors were going for. Fucked up individuals being in a toxic yet functional relationship "in love". In a real world I would not condone any of this but it's still a twisted kind of interest reading it and thinking "man these guys are horrible and need help"
