I don't care if there's a lot of girls as long as they're not annoying. I'm even okay if some of them likes the MC as long as the MC doesn't give af about their feelings and they're not damsel in distress nor ruins the plans of MC. I really want to read this because a lot of people recommend it, but I don't wanna waste my time if it have qualities of the things I mentioned above. Thank you in advance(▰˘◡˘▰)
kiyoung liking men doesnt change how much of a goddamn piece of shit he is. you can be gay without leading on a multitude of women and using them for your own gain, without ever giving back in return.
especially with the new mage girl, he destroyed a character with insane potential because she confronted him about the reality of his doings. of course a student is going to be immature at times, but to literally cripple her and destroy her future by manipulating another character with immense potential to do HIS dirty work really goes to show what kind of a shitty person he is. no man in this novel deserves to be with a shitty character like kiyoung.
I was preparing myself to get annoyed with the blue haired girl, but honestly she's not as annoying as others say. I do get annoyed with how she's always blushing when she sees the MC, but she's not damsel in distress nor she ruins the MC's plan like other stories. Though I guess I wasn't annoyed at her because the MC don't give af about her cause he's loyal to Lumi Unnie. The saint isn't annoying for me too, because I think what she's doing is actually helping the MC gain powers, even tho that might not be her purpose.
So it you're hesitating to read it because of the comments of how annoying the blue haired girl or the saintess are like I did at first, just give it a try and see for yourself. There's no romance in the 50 chapters. (▰˘◡˘▰)
At first, I found it boring since I don't know where the plot is going or what it is about. I was also not fond of stories where the uke is the one who have feelings first, I guess I got traumatized with speak of the devil lmao. I was also about to dropped it because when they started dating, I feel like their feelings for each other is unfair. It made me feel like the uke is the only one happy about their relationship while the seme just wanted to date the uke because he doesn't want to lose him, but thank God, I didn't. I'm really happy that their communication about their relationship is top notch so I didn't feel frustrated reading this. I was also wrong about the seme, he's one of the greenest flag there is who, and I think that he's the perfect guy for the uke who needs someone he can rely on. I love that he's trying hard for their relationship to work and that he's very understanding with uke's situation. Overall, I wish there's more chapters so I can read their fluffy story, so if you want to read something light, you can read this.
If i read this before kouguu no omega, I would have like it better. The plot is okay. I guess, I just hated how servants can say malicious comments about the uke without punishment while the two who are part of royalty was banished if not almost killed, though their punishment is understandable. I guess I was expecting a seme who will not let uke feel out of place and will always assure him like the one in kouguu no omega. It just feel lacking. Love the armpit hair tho cause it's realistic but there's no hair down there. ( ̄∇ ̄")
It was rated 8.9 but I still read it because there's a lot of positive comments about it. Some even say that the mc and ml is cute so i gave it a try. However I was disappointed because almost every chapter, if not all, the seme is forceful and the uke? he's older and "smart" but i think that he's just like kim dan in jinx, and I hate that type of uke. I read a lot of stories with a lot of SA, mind you, I've read a lot of stories like this and I even prepared myself for this story too, but I still hated it. The plot is all about sa, sa and blackmail then sa and then eventually falling in love with the abuser. I was planning to read the novel because I was expecting a chasing or proper apology and forgiveness arc, but when I read the comments in the novel, it was obvious that it was just ignored because the uke "wanted to move forward." There's also little character development for the seme though some said that their relationship will be better in the end.
To be honest I may have hated this because I have high expectation because of the comments even after preparing myself about the SA. However after reading this, I am handling the SA in this story worse than Killing stalking and waterside night that I'd rather recommend those two stories rather than this story. I don't get the plot and for me, the uke is really weak, or i guess I just expected too much.
I'm really bad in explaining so those who wants the explanation why i hated it, just search "beloved enemy" it's in NU. You'll find better explanations in the comments there.
I started rewatching it on INK* but it was gonna take since time. So I decided to tackle the novel. THAT was a hard read.
But now, coming back to catch up on the comics, it IS a hard read. Once knowing the raw details of they sexual lives and the amount of coercion, mental pain, mental stress, on GQP....
I was planning to read the novel, after I caught up in the chapters here because I was hoping that the story might become better. Good thing I didn't because I read the comments first and find out that the SA and then the suffering abuse, there is more explicit. I decided to read a fluffy story after to forget my frustration reading thi s
The novel was a HARD read. It's a coercive relationship closer to Stockholm and rape than anything. I can deal w/ a little bit with rape stories but ... But Stockholm is another thing altogether. It does go into more detail about their day to day life of work and other contentious issues. If you think the kid is bad, wait til you see the asshole father.
Yuan Yang did improve as time goes by. He's still coercive so the *ap* happens often, but he did grow in both business and normal personal growth. I still would never want to be involved with someone like him though. But he grew to a level where he could communicate with GQP, and worked really hard to gain his approval and stand by his side. But Yuan Yang's dad is the worst. GQP lost EVERYTHING and bore all the consequences of this father and son duo. Nothing redemptive about it at all. Esp. After all the headache and ruination, Yuan Yang asked him to forgive his dad for his sake. And I'm like, I woulda punched Yuan Sr. Til next Tuesday.
My gosh. That was why I didn't read the novel. I really love redemption arc, where the seme suffers, realizes his mistakes, ask for forgiveness and change, but just like you said and in the comments of the novel, it seems that it didn't happened and almost nothing changed. And the seme also had the audacity to ask uke to forgive his dad after everything? I would have punch and stomp his groin and choke hold his dad simultaneously.
That's not what happened.
It's not a "few chapters later". The novel had like 185 ch.
<Spoilers included>
GQP got whipped. And I don't mean he fell for him. He literally is a victim of Stockholm.
And besides that Yuan Yang would never let him go, no matter HOW MUCH he's struggled. He's just too strong physically and easily overpowers him. Throughout the book GQP always brings up the ****. That part was NEVER glossed over.
First, Yuan Yang coerced him.
Second, Yuan Yang just forced himself into GQP's house. And pretty much lived there.
Then more coerced sex.
The comic made light of everything and you don't see the brutal sex scenes. You also don't see the nuances of the development of their relationship. Contentious and strained. Constant resistance and push and pull. It's not a rosy relationship by any means. But over time, Yuan Yang worked hard to come to the point where he can talk business with GQP, a point lacking in their relationship. Because no matter how much physical contact he has with GQP, he couldn't connect with him on a higher level. Thus, he worked hard to get there. GQP makes fun of him calling him a kid - but which is true. GQP had been working for (10 years) and had been a manager and is skilled. He's 11 years Yuan Yang's senior, and has worked in the business & law sector for a long time, versus this "puppy" who's only been an army brat with no Business experience, so Yuan Yang had to work really hard to gain his approval.

Things took a turn for the worse when the sex tape got leaked. Yuan Yang got so panicked and tried to find it.
The more time he spent with GQP the more he realizes how much GQP means to him. So by this points, he had been frantic. He found the perp who stole his laptop.

But, because of this: His dad found out about his relationship with GQP (a forced one, but nonetheless) and kept blaming GQP for having "turned his son" gay, and was in deep denial about his son's homosexuality, both parents thinking it's just a phase.

Yuan Yang's dad then use the sex video and leaked some photos of GQP on the server and it went to every employee's emails, thus embarrassing GQP, outing him publicly And PUBLICLY SHAMED him. The only good thing is that GQP's parents really like Yuan Yang. But I don't like how Yuan Yang had asked GQP to forgive his dad. Like, wtaf.
I see.
Sorry I didn't want you to think this story was following that simplistic formula. I also started this series before reading the novel. But the series was far behind so I picked up the novel instead.
You don't have to read the spoilers.
Just know it wasn't a simple story with the uke being strong at the begining and falling for his ****** and abuser later on in life.
I don't see many manhuas being explicit like manhwas, due to censorship, so I really can't say.
Many manhuas/manhwas I've read are typically NOT representative of the true story at all, if they have been adapted from an original novel. Many a times I've picked up the novels due to the ambiguity of the story, or its being represented one-sidedly, or not fully explored or illustrated. Many of the stories I've read the manwhas or manhuas first and felt the audience (in the comments section) were too quick to judge. We aren't given the whole picture, or it's glossed over, or presented in a different way. So if possible, I'd rather read the story.
But actually, for this manhuas, it's pretty accurate in terms of the events happening, just that it was made to be too cute and the artwork to be too pretty. U know there ain't be cute Chibis in a dark manhuas (to distract you from the ill-intended consequences).
Sorry, I don't mean the author or artist in the illustration meant to represent it one-sidedly necessarily, at least not for this particular story, though sometimes it is, just to get a knee-jerk reaction out of the audience. But even if it is and that forces the audience to only see one side of thing (you know cuz in the story there are multiple sides) that's when you need to step back and see the p.o.v. from the other characters' p.o.v. too. But anyways, many times a work isn't fully well illustrated and portrayed so I just end up picking the novel up. The nuances and backstory are oftentimes needed. Anyways, for this particular story, half of the novel talks A LOT about business, etc. how he runs the company, his interactions with his employees, his boss, a fellow businessman and potential 2nd ML, how he has to handle Yuan Yang, whom, for whatever reason, Yuan Sr. decided to throw upon GQP, as part of his job to babysit this mother f*/_cker. It talks about his family, Yuan Yang's family, etc. Not just their unbearably suffocating relationship. A lot of business talk, trading, investing, the nitty-gritty details of the day-to-day work life.
Yeah I can see why they would have cut all of that out of the manhwa. I guess that's the difference between manhwas and novels.
And yeah, the chibis are cute as hell but they do try to make the ML look adorable instead of like the monster he really is.
Therefore you can't really blame the readers for judging the story and the characters based on what they see, especially when they haven't read the novel. And in this case, the manhwa has made the MC look weak/pathetic when he didn't start out like that.
I wouldn't say weak and pathetic. I would say the Chibis definitely deflates the depravity of the situation, but if you've read enough manhwas/has/ and novels, you'd know better what to expect.
This is part of a series called the 188. I found this out because I was reading this on INK* and one of the comments, regarding this comic and another/other comic(s) from this same author, that these are scumbag tops, all with the height of 188 cm(?).
The MC (Gu Qing Pei) certainly isn't weak. You can see him fighting Yuan Yang all the way. Gu Qing Pei fights via words and higher thinking manipulations (benign, not malicious; he doesn't (at least initially) have any reasons to hate Yuan Yang, until Yuan Yang crosses the line, ofc)). He's good at dealing with people because he's a businessman. He's glib. YY's dad wouldn't have entrusted YY to him otherwise.
I'm not sure how far you are in this story. I think I'm caught up. But Yuan Yang crosses the lines physically. He can never win GQP in an argument. GQP is adept at dealing with people mentally, but never encountered such a force as Yuan Yang, physically. He is at a LOSS.
They butt heads, but each only knew how to fight the other per their strength, one is at a higher level of executive functioning (GQP) and the other is at a more basic level of executive functioning comprising of animalistic instinct (YY) (hence the rape, and completely smashing his car (in the novel he smashed it so completely it becomes a compacted piece of metal)). So one is using his head, and the other his fists. GQP is not weak. You can see him resisting YY all the way. But no matter how much brain he has, he COULDN'T outmaneuver YY, as YY always turns the corner and catches him. He literally forces himself onto GQP, and he literally shoved his way into GQP's house and just camps there. Like, unless GQP calls the cops, and he can't, because for whatever reason, he has to comply with his boss (Yuan Yang's dad) to keep an eye on him, but he can't lift a finger in his defense. GQP did his best to try to get YY to work as a normal worker, but YY rebelled all the way. Instead of taking his anger and frustrations out on his dad, and I don't even know why he's listening to his dad (?) And didn't walk away, but chose to stay (?) Or had to stay, he took out all his anger on someone his dad had assigned to tutor and guide him. GQP did EVERYTHING HE COULD TO FORCE YY OUT OF THE OFFICE (quit on his own) BUT FOR SOME ODD REASON THE BOY DECIDED TO STAY. LIKE, NOTHING GQP did deterred him. It only sets him ablaze for revenge.
First, thank you for clarifying, I forgot that i wrote a "few chapters later" sorry. Based on the comments I read in the novel, they said that the uke forgave the seme, I guess what made me frustrated, just pike what you said is how the seme ask uke to forgive his dad after everything he did. There's also no chasing or development arc, or just a few if there's any which I hate the most in this kind of stories. I do like reading this kind of angst but the only way I can cope with it is the chasing and begging arc, and if there's none? then I'm out.
You're right, even when I am reading the manhua i know that he's strong, not physically tho, and smart. I guess what made him weak in my perspective or opinion is how he just let YY do almost whatever he wants to him and his life. Though just like you said, YY is stronger than him physically and was so stubborn, and he have no choice. I guess, since I'm reading something that isn't real, I was also hoping that he have a choice, where GQP can just quit his job and run away from YY, or if he can't protect himself from YY, find someone who can? or like date someone better or stronger than YY, or report him to authorities. It's just frustrating how it seems like he can't do anything to protect himselr or get away from YY even if it's not his fault. I guess I was frustrated reading this because even if the Uke isn't real, I want the Uke to be happy, and make choices that will make his life better but it's not happening or will not happen. Sorry i really get attached to characters even if they're not real. ╥﹏╥
Also, I'm reading to distress and get away from reality so I'm hoping that when I'm reading stories, I'll be a third personin someone's story, where I can see characters happy, content and getting the love they deserve because, in reality not all people can or is experiencing that.
GQap fights but YY overpowers him (physically) & r@pes him over and over.
And idk if you got to the part about YY's dad Yuan Sr. (Forgot his full name). Both father and son pretty much strong-armed him, literally and figuratively, and while GQP is a capable man, he's still dealing w a dog. He also doesn't have an army at his disposal. At every turn YY accosted him. And Yuan Sr. GQP has some financial investments but no connections. It's hard to stand up a whole family AND their wealth AND their connections and the amount of ppl they have at their disposal.
True..
YY is a true dog it's hard to like him
I watched the live adapation to this novel a few years back, so when this manwha popped I knew this looked familliar
I won't read the novel I just hate seme like this
If there is no redemption arc (like someone said here) where YY realises his mistakes and ask for forgiveness it will just frustrate me more.
I want to read it cause it seems like it will have a good plot but I'm scared that it might be ruined by romance
