For the people saying “why are you shocked?” or “why are you mad?” I think that the reason people are upset is not completely bc there’s rape in the manhwa, but because it’s between two characters who are meant to be love interests. And that will possibly end up together at the end, or its at least set up that way. If it were another character, they would at least be identified as evil or an antagonist by readers, (and tbh this wasn’t necessary at all u can make a realist crime based manhwa w/o graphic rape scenes). This makes it come off as romanization of dubious consent. Which is tiring to see because a lot of authors do this. It be the best art too likee >_<
First of all, I disagree with you: this is no"romantization of dubious consent". It was plain rape, painful to Jin, Matthew and us readers. It was horrifyng to me and broke our hearts. What exactly is romantic about that? Who is thinking, "wow this is so romantic, if my bf rapes me, it should be fine bc he loves me"? Sorry you didn't like where the story is going, but it's the author who decides what to do with it. If you where expecting unicorns and movie theater dates between 2 severely traumatized men, this story was never for you. And yes, Matthew and Jin may still end up together after him becoming an evil rapist as you said, It is up to the reader (an adult capable of dissent) to think what they like about this. Whether it's right or wrong, you're entitled to your own opinion.
I don’t think you understand my comment. YES, dubious consent is rape, never said it wasn’t. It’s literally the “lack of clear consent that often involves intoxication, coercion, manipulation, abuse of authority, etc.” So i don’t know what you’re disagreeing with rn.
And then you go on to defend the author putting RAPE in their story because “they are an adult who can make their own decisions”?? My comment is a criticism from someone who is reading the manwha. I get you wanna defend it since u like it or smth but as I said before I find it to be romanization for the author to put vivid rape scenes in a story when there is a way rape can be portrayed in a manner that shows the significance of it. This is a romance is it not? Then why is the love interest raping the character? what kind of message does that show? Please think before replying to me.
i haven’t been reading this for months now cause it was turning into some sad bs. but from looking at the comments what, did jooin reject cain? and how tf does yawhi keep appearing if jooin was done with him mad long ago? idk but y'all are real ones for staying on this story lmfao
