all the 'dIsguSTang uKe whOREsLUt fuCKiNg DrOPpedz b1TchEz' comments have the grammar structure of jesse pinkman lmao
Ngl I genuinely can't understand the hate on the uke considering he was raised as a sex slave and used as a cumslut EVERYDAY by that old man...and ppl turn fingers on him for being hypersexual as a result of that abuse....yuckk!!!! ppl rlly shouldn't read these kind of stories if theyr gonna frame a character who's going to be increasingly complex as 1 dimensional bc wdym ....
wish i could like your comment. the artstyle is not my cup of tea but this work could actually provide commentary on sex vs sexual intimacy, it's just a matter of hows and whys, and if the readers would be arsed to look. There's also the possibility that this work could just be another porn marathon. It's too early to tell
I’m half convinced the author doesn't have control over the direction as much as her editor does. If you've followed and bought some of Momose An’s djs in her early days like i have, you must have noticed the stark difference by now.
The angst in her dj's always had a two-fold purpose: a character study through conflicts in which the characters emerge clearer for the readers and with a depth that elevates the progression of the story.
Only 2 of her original works (How Far is My Dream Allowed and Ore Mite) stood true to that(correct me if I'm wrong), and the rest are soft porn. Not saying her djs didnt have smut, oh it was smutty but there was heart. So much of it that you could tell the author had loved creating it from top to bottom, from the characters to the prose, from stylistic closed-ups to backgrounds.
I get it, it's the editor's job to make the author's vision more palatable to a general audience (noncon and dogshit tops are still hot in Japan. Source: my ass. just filter the yaoi tag bro) but damn this was a loss.
Due to the author's poor health, this is allegedly their last work; they’ll be entering retirement shortly. It's so damn sad that the author thinks this story is ‘boring and unpopular’ when it has such a unique dreamlike tone yet emotionally-charged delineation. Visually, that's no easy feat. Here’s to hoping their health improves ! !
Don't kill me: the manhwa did a great job showing what a relationship would look like if the couple has polarising love languages, and that a person's personality doesn't just do a complete 180 once they're in love.
I also find it Frustrating that Yeo-won(the boss, top) is still bit of a douche dating Seok Yeon(bottom)..but then you see Yeo-won sharing something of his past or his thoughts with Seok Yeon that you just know he hasn't shared with anyone else. He has also opened his home to Seok Yeon even tho he's a very private individual and has essentially given him free rein. Personally, that says a lot. Actions>>>words
They have softened around the edges since dating (IMO the epilogue needs more tenderising) but at the very core, Yeo Won is still a pragmatic emotionally-repressed workaholic and Seok Yeon is an idealist with a somewhat rose-tinted perception of love.
Idk, I guess I'm impressed? Author had the guts to stay committed in leading the story with their personalities over a preconceived notion of what BL romance is supposed to be til the very end. (Plus it makes their banters and interactions so much more interesting than I wuv you kiss sex kiss i wuv u more sex)
I think i accidentally disliked, mb
samee thoughts! their conversations are hilarious, they clash a lot but like what their mutual subae pointed out, it's without malice. kinda reminds me of irl couples who play-fight and roast each other every chance they get lmao sweet but scary to outsiders
I just think author can't express the character's emotion well...cuz their eyes looks emotionless and the facial expressions is not it .....so when u read it it's like reading it in monotone.....but I still enjoy it
IMO character delineation> art > romance. BUT i do agree with you, the art does look stiff in emotional scenes. It gives their delivery an uncanny valley effect— not much visual payoff for both characters after muddling through their respective baggages. (don't mind me i just love knowing the lore of how they came to be emotionally unstable feral but mundane individuals)
