Geonhyeong - Sejeong's deceased boyfriend/bodyguard.

Mr Joo - Rawon's shitty boss
Ms Nahyeon - Rawon's shitty ex-girlfriend
Ms Cha - Zeo's secretary
Hyeon Hakjoon - Chairman of Hyeon Corp. Zeo's adoptive father.
Hyeon Eunjo - Hakjoon's daughter. Zeo's sister (unsure if blood related or not). Warns Zeo not to hold onto important things (Rawon), as her ex-husband was ruined by their own father.
Chairman Kang - owner of Royal Group. Alleged killer of both Seongyu and Geonhyeong.

------------------

Story Summary:
Zeo while keeping tabs on Editor K, runs into Rawon (his employee) and Jiwon at a gay bar, and forms an interest in Rawon, whom he later assigns to the Jeju Resort project. They become closer over the duration of the project. Though, Rawon has no idea his brother Jiwon is Editor K.

Editor K is an infamous writer for the magazine Royal Style, owned by Kang Sejeong (the heiress to Royal Group), which spills dirty secrets on the rich. Few know who he is or how he gets his information.

Zeo is forced by his adoptive father (Chairman Hyeon) to marry Kang Sejeong so they can acquire Royal Style (the aforementioned gossip mag), and consequently: Editor K. But unbeknownst to everyone, Zeo already has a secret cooperation with Sejeong to overthrow each other's respective companies. Simply put: Zeo wants to overtake Chairman Hyeon, and Sejeong wants to destroy Chairman Kang.

During the resort project, Rawon finds out about Sejeong's secret relationship with her bodyguard, Geonheyong, despite being Zeo's alleged fiancee. She's even pregnant. Amidst the awkwardness, he still helps plan Zeo and Sejeong's fake wedding much to his chagrin, only to find that Zeo has purposely bailed, leaving one furious CEO father. Rawon catches a fist for Sejeong from Chairman Kang; to which later Zeo found out about...and the problem was *ahem* dealt with in an appropriate manner by sources unknown.

------------------

Fast forward to the current events:
Geonhyeong is suddenly dead; supposedly run over by a truck, in the same manner Seongyu was killed. Sejeong is in mourning. She knows he was killed in the same way her (half?)brother(?) Seongyu was: by the alleged hands her own father.

Rawon has trouble keeping contact with Zeo because of how busy he is during the aftermath, but doesn't remember their drunken tryst. Meanwhile Mrs. Cha warns Zeo that Rawon might get dragged into the crossfire between the two groups.

Jiwon is writing a detailed corruption report on Zeo. He is willing to work for Kang's mother-daughter pair Sejeong and Julia Kim in hopes of taking down Chairman Kang, as revenge for his deceased lover, Seongyu. He has a grudge against the rich and wants to follow in the footsteps of Seongyu's vigilante paparazzi lifestyle.

Zeo knows what Jiwon is up to, and finally spills the beans to Rawon that his brother is more than just a hoodlum troublemaker on the outside. That he's secretly in a world of underground trouble as Editor K. He even previously let Jiwon purposely see them make out for fuel to the fire.

Rawon confronts Jiwon; and they make a deal. In exchange for Jiwon quitting his dangerous job and going to military service, Rawon has to quit Songhyeon and stop seeing Zeo. Rawon eventually does quit his job and decides to see Zeo one last time...and possibly also one more tryst.

------------------

Side notes:

We know that Sejeong, Julia, and Jiwon want to take down Chairman Kang because he killed their loved ones. We don't actually know yet Zeo's motives for wanting to takeover Hyeon Group; nor his relationship with his adoptive father.
But presumably, it seems that both fathers have been doing shady things. Chairman Hyeon is absorbing and overtaking small companies, bringing them to ruin.

Whatever gossip report Jiwon has on Zeo is likely alleged without hard evidence, because it feels as though Zeo knows, and may actually have predicted for this to happen, as he's still in partnership with Sejeong for their "revenge". It is likely that he deliberately edged Jiwon on purpose to pull Rawon and himself out of the danger zone while he finishes the last phase of his plans.

Zeo and Rawon are mutually in love. Rawon doesn't have any confidence a relationship with a conglomerate rich beau would ever work out in seriousness; so he's half-heartedly in the relationship as a casual fling. Meanwhile, Zeo is most likely serious but he has a lot on his plate he needs to clean up first; what with the whole corporate takeover. Aside from that, their relationship is actually decent.

I'm on Chapter 68 in the novel rn, and man, ML is crazy. Not entirely his fault but he's just as pathetic as the other guy.
ML is the middle son of his house, his house is very successful and rich, AND very religious (not in being delulu in religion but very much like strict n "gotta be pure and perfect" type of way). His family knows he's gay, that's why they treat him like an outsider, even his baby sister doesn't see ML as a human, only a failed product leaching onto her family.
ML used to get in alot of fights before going to school w MC, he also didn't do well in school so it just adds on into reasons why his family can't accept him at all.
ML is also very insecure whenever he's with his family or even be seen by his baby sister (he would literally break down and cry), there's no love, no attention no nothing in his home. He wouldn't even dare to eat when his family is home.
Later you will know why ML refuses to admit his love for MC, he yearns for him but the relationship between him n his family mess him up, he was hella scared and even holding his head screaming like trauma response when MC found out abt ML having tons of pictures of MC in his phone. (ML stalked MC since forever)
Since the feelings r now mutual and MC knows ML is similar to him when it comes to having shame/guilt for being gay. MC told ML that he will help him deceive his family and want to help him being seen by his family in a better light.
It helps at the start as ML dad likes MC (only cz he's a useful son to his family w academic background) but later ML can't handle it since being more close n close to his family is too traumatic to him so he crashes out and start hurting MC. Which scares MC alot so he just runs away and can't shake off his fears for ML.
And there's a tag about ML regretting so this is probably when MC gonna start distancing himself from ML

i wanna gatekeep so bad but for the love of LITC, read this manhwa. go yohan, you will always be loved (had to say this sorry). i rarely get deep into a manhwa but trust me when i say you won't be disappointed with the story. i have finished the novel and while there are some small topics it doesnt address, its very realistic compared to other manhwas. it depicts the teen social hierarchy so well and the idea around homosexuality mirror the real world. BEST OF ALL, the mc is not a frail little thing, he actually has a sense of survival and is incredibly insightful when it comes to social interaction.

Novel Spoilers:

If you like ML green flags who are obsessive over their lovers, this book is for you!!! ML falls HARD for the beautiful MC. He breaks up with his GF immediately after and she does not return, just briefly mentioned later on and ofc, MC is hurt/jealous but nothing too serious. They continue to share moments with each other and ends up with a passionate kiss and MC gives ML two weeks to decide if they date (MC said yes! wooo!) After dating, there is smut, not sure if manhwa will include but ooofff, soo good. There is lots of insecurity from MC when dating, he thinks his relationship will end. This makes MC mad, they argue a bit but make up. This happens a few times, but then again, it is MC's first time dating and everything. They don't tell their friends till like 6 months in dating, MC tells them after ML gets angry over an opponent talking to MC like a dog, that was hot lol. Also cute side story, ML wins gold at the Asian games for basketball and gets exempt for military, like MC did for gymnastics. Then later MC, ML and 2 main friends are playing basketball, ML kept giving the ball to MC because he just stood there, with his arms out, reaching for the ball. Lol so cute, it was MC + 1 friend vs ML + 1 friend, they kept getting mad at ML, and he said he couldnt resist, too cute of a face waiting for the ball . (Ending, During basketball interview, they ask ML to write something to open in 10 yrs, he writes he will be married to MC in 10 years and have children who are similar to them

I read the novel, and both of them are equally deranged. Lol. One is detached, while the other is a mix of sociopath and psychopath. I actually liked the story. If you're looking for a revenge trope, this isn't it. The friend who k-worded himself did everything of his own volition. I'm not saying he deserved it just because he was naive, but he grew up as a pampered little prince and never truly grasped the harshness of the world.
He was the one who asked to go with Woojin to meet Woojin's friends and ended up graped because Woojin went out to smoke. He was the one who lost his mind and had to suffer the consequences. He was also the one who wanted to help Woojin with his plan to extract evidence of corruption from his family-it wasn't Woojin who told him to do so. Now, Woojin has a phobia of anyone close to him who is 29 years old because both his ex-fiancée and his friend died at that age.

SO BACK AGAIN- I JUST completed a 3rd reread (at this point these are annotations ). While we wait for Season 2, since I don’t think it’s coming until 2025, I’m posting this here for anyone (myself included) that forgets anything. I can confirm a few things that may have been easy to miss from my previous post and clarify some theories as well.
I will post below for further clarification- because I know a lot of people are confused after the first season but here’s everything I’ve gleaned after tight reading the first season.

Characters of note:
Seo-In: sex addict and rich
Yeongwoon: trauma ridden, poor and doing his best
Hae-yool: actor that Yeongwoon was previously the manager of
Taegu- Hyung: leader/CEO of the company- that started from the gangsters he was working with before
Yoon-Seok: Yeongwoon’s friend from middle school (has red hair, owner of the Ducati bike)
Jaewon (DECEASED)- Older (step??) brother of Seo-In

Timeline:
-Last year in middle school is when Yeongwoon and Seo-In met
-they become friends
-Seo-In has a step brother from his Mother’s Marriage: Jaewon
-seo-in and Yeongwoon and Jaewon begin hanging out a lot
-Seo-in and Yeongwoon’s relationship begins to change
-Yeongwoon witnesses Kiss between Seo-in and what looks like/ alluded to is Jaewon
-Yeongwoon begins to pull back as a result of this, which begins to effect Seo-in
-Seo-In leaves for an overseas trip on the same day that the assault on Yeongwoon takes place- lead by Jaewon
-Seo-In’s family pay off Yeongwoon’s father for his assault, charges are never pressed for his injuries or suffering
-Yeongwoon steals the hush money and runs
- Taegu most likely encounters him as a runaway pretty early on and takes him in
-Seo-In returns to find Yeongwoon is gone
10- yr skip
Picks up where the events start in the series

That is my current understanding of the past events as they were disjointedly portrayed, so a few things of note for the first season:

Previously I had thought that the catalyst behind Yeongwoon leaving and the resulting anxiety disorder were caused by not the kiss he’d witnessed but by the betrayal he felt from the assault he went through which broke his arm/hand and resulted in him being unable to pursue Judo anymore. This is still wholly correct- but I do have a few updates to this as well- I’ll start with the brother:

- Jaewon’s father is the wealthy one- this is evidenced by his conversations with his Mother in regards to managing his public reputation because his father is planning on going “back” into politics and wants to hand over the business operations to her (Chapter 27).

-Jaewon and Seo-In are not directly related this is indirectly referenced by the family at the death anniversary of Jaewon where an aunt states: that there he can’t be blamed for not being able to form a deep connection to someone who isn’t blood related to him- and also alludes to Seo-In probably feeling “guilty” with the way Jaewon died (possibly suicide, possibly due to illness since he did have a private doctor- the lady that gave Seo-IN the trip killer drugs in chapter 10)

-Jaewon- doesn’t actually like Yeongwoon despite spending a lot of time with him and Seo-in because
- He’s poor
- He knows that Yeongwoon likes Seo-In sexually or vice versa
- Or he himself is interested in Seo-In

- the change in Seo-In’s behavior once Yeongwoon started to pull back after the latter saw the kiss was most likely the catalyst that lead to the assault on Yeongwoon perpetrated by Jaewon (we see him in chapter 31 in the flashback- one of the people that assaulted him having asked: “Where were you?” To which he replies “I was at the airport to see my brother off” and he presses his hand to Jeongwoon’s face stating “Cold, isn’t it Yeongwoon?” this is directly in reference to the same flashback from Seo-IN’s in chapter 17 Where Seo-In is waiting in the snow with his Mother for Yeongwoon to show up to say goodbye and he doesn’t, nor does he answer his calls)

SO Yeongwoon left not because of Seo-in (I don’t think he had a choice) but because of the assault perpetrated by Jaewon, rendering one of his arms useless- there has been particular focus on his hands- all season, but with the reveal of his arm in the sling in Seo-in’s mother’s memory and the article in frame on the last page of the season finale. I’m thinking his injuries may have been even more extensive than portrayed in that one shot.

Seo-in’s parents (mother at least) were not only aware of the fact that Jaewon was the perpetrator of the assault against Yeongwoon, but were also aware of who Yeongwoon was and did not make any effort to take any sort of responsibility for it or explain it to Seo- In - even being aware that he was Seo-in’s best friend (possibly more)

Seo-in has no fucking idea that any of this happened, because
A. His family hid it
B. Yeongwoon had no choice but to keep silent given either the shame from his father having accepted the money or his subsequent mental health developments, this is likely the event that is the cause of his anxiety disorder
C. Yeongwoon either assumes that Seo-In knew about what Jaewon had done to him- or even assumes that him not knowing would be better given that it seems he’s misunderstood the relationship between the two.

The money that was “stolen” as referenced in chapter 25 from his father, was hush the money that Yeongwoon took as his own (totally valid) when he fled to finally cut ties with his father after pretty much being abandoned by everyone he could possibly trust.

It is referenced by Jaewon’s doctor- (The woman in chapter 10) that the three of them did hang out quite a bit (Jaewon, Yeongwoon, and Seo-In) which leads me to believe the only one who was aware at all of what was growing between Seo-In and Yeongwoon was Jaewon, and for some reason he destroyed it. I currently think his (step?) brother must’ve been obsessed with him- because in the flashbacks Yeongwoon has of Seo-In and the mystery person, we see the person always having the same hair and mole just below the left side of his lips, and this placement and hair color is the same in the family photo of the Han Family revisited in chapters: 6, 8,11, etc) - we even initially get the overlay of his face (the brother’s) and Hae yool (the guy he was previously the manager of) in chapter 3. We also see him in Seo-In’s flashbacks in chapter 21 stating “Don’t tell me you think people are actually being genuine with you?”

My assumption is that this statement was made post Yeongwoon’s disappearance in effect to minimize any of the connection that may have existed between the two, the same can be said for his appearance in Yeongwoon’s nightmare in Chapter 3 when Jaewon appears behind him, holding his chin up when he tries to turn away from the image of Seo-In and Hae- yool together and telling him

“Don’t look away.”
“There’s no place for you there.”
“Not in the past, not now…not ever”

So the main antagonist rn is a freaky ghost.

Anyway that’s everything until Season 2

So, for the ones who’ve read the novels,

In the first series, I’ve always been a bit confused because Zhenya tells Taekjoo that “he wanted him first” and even Taekjoo was like “wtf? When?”

In the second series, we finally found out when this happened. What Zhenya was referring to when he said that Taekjoo wanted him first was that Taekjoo accepted him as his partner when they first met because up until then, Taekjoo worked solo.

Anyway, the second set of novels just came out in August, and it answers a few questions.

Spoilers for the second series:

Volume 1:
Taekjoo has a mission in Cuba that goes awry and he ends up being rescued by Zhenya and a Mexican narc named Matias. Once he gets home the higher ups question his relationship with Zhenya.

Volume 2:
Russia and North Korea are up to no good, and since Zhenya is the Russian ambassador in Korea and the son of a very influential family in Russia with close ties to the government, Taekjoo doesn’t want him interfering because he doesn’t want Zhenya to get in trouble. While in a mission in Russia, he’s working with 2 other agents and there’s an explosion. Taekjoo is saved by Zhenya, but since he’s the only one who came out alive, there’s suspicions. Taekjoo is mad that Zhenya interfered and leaves him behind in this island. He wants to prove to the higher ups his and Zhenya’s innocence, so he takes up a mission in Iran (which is a continuation of what he was doing in Russia.). Before leaving to Iran, he contacts Zhenya and tells him to not go look for him and that he’ll be back to get him when it’s all over because there’s something he needs to tell him. As much as he doesn’t want to, Zhenya complies, but when he tries to track his location he gets an error message. Sometime before he’d implanted a microchip in Taekjoo to track his location, and it worked based on the person’s vital signs. There’s news that Taekjoo might have died in a terrorist attack while in his mission in Iran, but at least his mission was successful.

Volume 3:
Zhenya goes to Iran to identify the body said to be Taekjoo’s. He’s accompanied by Jong-woo. After seeing the body, he determines it’s not Taekjoo and goes on a wild goose chase to find him. Unbeknownst to anybody, Taekjoo was arrested and is being tortured in an Iranian prison. Before the explosion he bumped into one of Zhenya’s brothers and saved him, so the brother is in an Iranian hospital when Zhenya comes to asks if he knows anything about Taekjoo’s whereabouts. In prison, Taekjoo is being SA’d, but uses his abuser’s lust to overpower him and escape. While he’s escaping Zhenya and Jong-woo arrive at the jail and they miss each other. He makes his way to Turkey where he bumps into Matias, who immediately recognizes him, but Taekjoo has lost his memories ans doesn’t recognize him but allows him to help him. Zhenya eventually makes his way to Matias’ place, but he misses Taekjoo again. Earlier Taekjoo had remembered his mom ans cslled her and she mentioned “the Russian ambassador”, but he was unable to look him up on his phone so he went to the city when Zhenya came. Eventually, Zhenya returns to Matias’ place and even though he can’t remember him, somehow he feels he can trust him and goes with him.

Volume 4:
Zhenya tries to be all lovey-doves, but Taekjoo is like “get the f*uk away from me.” Zhenya is angry and hurt that Taekjoo forgot him. He does remember Jongwoo, though. Eventually Olga makes an appearance and calls a psychologist over who explains to them what’s happening and how to go about it. Later, while in the pool, Olga drops the bombshell that Taekjoo and Zhenya were lovers. Both Jongwoo and Taekjoo are surprised by that bombshell. Throughout his interactions with Zhenya, Taekjoo couldn’t understand how he came to be “friends” with someone as abrasive as Zhenya, so he definitely could have never imagined he was actually not a friend, but a lover. Olga advises Zhenya not to push Taekjoo too hard and to try to make him fall for him again. Jongwoo had tried to contact headquarters to let them know that he’d found Taekjoo, but Zhenya broke his phone. Later they all go on a yatch trip, and Olga and Jongwoo plan to get off the yatch so Jongwoo can contact headquarters. They stay alone on the yatch, and Taekjoo is trying to be a lover to Zhenya. Things heat up, but right as they’re about to go all the way, Taekjoo has flashbacks of his abuse in jail and has a crisis. Back at the villa, Zhenya overhears Jongwoo and Olga talking about contacting headquarters. He freaks out and attacks them, but then he hears Taekjoo calling out to him. He goes to him and Taekjoo asks him to take him somewhere quiet, so they end up on his private island. They spend their days just being domestic and since he can’t remember his past self, he’s a sweeter lover. Eventually they go all the way, but that also awakens some memories from the past.

Volume 5:
After having sex, Taekjoo remembers all the bad memories and concludes that he must’ve just given up and that’s why he ended up becoming Zhenya’s “lover”. All throughout their stay in the island, Zhenya had had that nagging feeling of what would happen if Taekjoo only remembered the bad stuff. Taekjoo tied up Zhenya and basically denies their history. Since he can only remember the bad stuff, he can’t fathom how he could fall in love with him and even asks Zhenya if he’s ever said “I love you” to him, to which Zhenya thinks that neither have said so, but they were still lovers regardless. Taekjoo leaves him there and finally makes his way back to Korea. Once home, he finds his phone and as he browsed through it he found many many pictures of his love story with Zhenya. He finally remembers everything and decides to go look for Zhenya. Before going to Iran he’d told him to wait for him until he went to get him, so that’s what he’s planning on doing. Before this though, he had wanted to quit his job as an agent, but now he requested to remain “dead”. When agents died, their demise was never made public, nobody even knew they existed, so he wanted his existence to be completely wiped out. He asked Olga for help in reaching Zhenya, so he took her helicopter to his island, but the island is like a fortress. Zhenya won’t let anyone in. He is attacked by the island’s defense mechanism, but manages to send a Morse code message hoping Zhenya would recognize it. He does, but the misile had already been launched and still hit the helicopter. He thinks he’s killed Taekjoo and is about to shoot himself when he hears a faint sound. He goes to find Taekjoo who’s unconscious. When he recovers consciousness, Taekjoo tells him he loves him. They reconcile, have sex, get attacked, someone attacked the Kremlin, Zhenya’s brother kills the president, and Taekjoo and Zhenya travel the world. They do a quick pit stop at Nahyun’s wedding. They didn’t meet in person, but Taekjoo signed the guest book. Zhenya’s brother becomes president. They eventually return to Korea where they spend time with Taekjoo’s mom, Olga and Jongwoo. The story ends in the cemetery, in front of the tomb of Taekjoo’s dad. Zhenya asks him if he’s sure about quitting, and Taekjoo says that if he’d never met him, he’d probably still be lost (meaning working as an agent which he came to realize was a thankless job). Hearing Taekjoo say he’s the reason why makes Zhenya lean in for a kiss. Jongwoo notices and takes Olga and Taekjoo’s mom away from them while they kiss in the sunset.

The end.

As someone that just read the 2nd novel, I have to say I grew such a fond understanding of Taekjoo and Zhenya now that I didn't think I would have. Now before I talk about why I like them (yes even Zhenya) this relationship would never work for real because let's be for real what Zhenya does to Taekjoo in Novel 1 is unforgivable (Mainly the SA) and I wish Manhwa's authors please just stop using it for shock purposes it's demeaning and honestly pointless. Zhenya could have done everything else he did and it would make sense or easily explained away and their development would still be just as solid and if anything way more believable.
Okay now that I said my peace for that...

Their relationship is something I've never seen done quite like this. It's not perfect and both men make mistakes and they argue at times (more in Novel 1 then in 2) but the way they always come back to one another is endearing to me. Like no one can fill that void except each other.

Now I won't go into spoilers (unless you want me to...you would have to ask me) but what I can say is Zhenya absolutely gets a slap in the face/reality check for the shit he does to Taekjoo in Novel 1. I wish it was explored longer, but what we get for his character choices and development is amazing to read. I was honestly shock to see the author actually try to show that what Zhenya chooses to do to Taekjoo in Novel 1 was horrible and he deserved the consequences.
Taekjoo himself also has character flaws that come to surface that I enjoyed and how those choices shift his life perspective and how he really wants to live in the end. Now it's nothing compared to the development of Zhenya as partner, but it's interesting to see how the author explains his choices, why he does what he does, and why in the end he chooses Zhenya even when he didn't have to.

As for Zhenya the conscious choices he makes at first come off as seemingly selfish, he disregards Taekjoo order to stay home and let him handle his "work", his way of understanding a situation is almost child-like (straight forward and lack of depth), but the more he explains his choices and why the more I realize he really just wants Taekjoo, he wants Taekjoo safe, home, alive and happy. Zhenya is truly like a loyal dog...he will do everything in his power to make sure Taekjoo eats, lives, and come home to him.
I hope it continues to be developed into a full Manhwa for the 2nd Novel as well because let me say a off handed remark...their chemistry is crazy! Taekjoo is so much more hungry for Zhenya...reading it had me ლ(´ڡ`ლ) lol

Sorry rambling but when I'm interested in something I have to get it off my chest. Would love to hear from anyone who may have also recently read the novel...also if it's about spoilers we can always chat separately.

Okay, I have a lot of questions and things to be clarified?

1. Does Zhenya ever feel bad about what he did to Taekjoo? Does he regret it? Or try to make up for it? Does he feel bad about essentially trying to pimp Taekjoo out, raping/beating him, and then literally trying to kill him. Especially since I heard he tries again later in the novel??

2. I dislike threesomes, I’m sorry. Whether the couple is together or not, whether at first or after, I just don’t like them unless it’s a closed poly relationship. I prefer monogamy, although I do know ENM exists. So, my question is if Taekjoo and Zhenya are monogamous?? Or do they have sex with others later on? Do they regret the threesome or ever talk about it/past partners again?

3. When they get together, are they ever jealous? Which ig kind of also goes hand in hand with question 2. Ik Zhenya is insane and he reminds me of Caesar, so I’m asking if he’s the jealous type like that or if Taekjoo is

4. This can based on interpretation I guess and subjective opinion, but are they in love and love each other? Do they end up in a healthy relationship?
