It’s missing a lot of details from the novel, though I understand because this author reallyyyyyy likes to write things out in a super heavy detailed way, and that’s alright because it’s an adaptation. However, I think it’s missing some parts that made me a little emotional, the little things that you can relate with, like the actual REAL awkwardness that the MC felt so much with Aiden. Like it felt so real in the novel, but barely comes across here, especially in the first meeting.
I haven’t gotten past the first chapter of the webtoon, but I’ll stick with the novel, because it’s already skipped some stuff I thought would be adapted, though there is a lot of exposition in the first chapter.
Of course, if you aren’t into lots and lots of detail, this would prob be better, but the emotions def come across better in the novel and way more relatable with the Seowon’s/MC’s thoughts. It dwelled into his mind a lot throughout, which is understandable since it’s mainly about his feelings.
20-30ish panels in the webtoon though, we missed literally a lot of the exposition and his thoughts on the matter (which are really important imo and build on his values and understanding of the world around him for later conflicts).
But good luck to those who read this adaptation. (=・ω・=)
That was my take after reading the chapters. It feels like a lot it's missing or left implied just to fit the chapter's panels. I really think just by reading the incipit that this is very well written which I find refreshing and enticing at the same time. Can you point us towards an English translation of the novel if you know any?
To every one who wants the novel, search up Gentle Forest on novel_upates (remove the dash) and it should lead you to it. If you can’t open the link, then search for the English translation on Wattpad under the same name.
If you want good BL novels, then I def suggest looking on novel updates, they have a lot of stuff besides BL as well. And be warned that I wasn’t joking with the amount of details in this novel, it’s a lot, but the smut is well written so ლ(´ڡ`ლ)
I kinda expected the MCs to be better than they were before, but it seems like we’re closer to square one than we were before.
I mean we obv have a lot more sh*t to do but the author ends it on a more hopeful note only for the new season to get a major setback.
I really wanted them to take charge and be badass like they were at the end of the last season, but I feel as though this setback is a little too much.
I mean, come on, Je-Oh seemed ready to kick ass with his new crew last season. I was waiting for him to do stuff to change their minds, but he’s really letting me down. He’s basically giving them a reason to not like him, he’s proving up to everyone’s initial impression of him, which is what I really do not like.
TLDR: the new season isn’t what I was expecting, and I’m a little let down on MC’s decisions. I’m not trying to undermine his pain in any way, but I really expected him to kick ass with the change in attitude that the end of the last season showed.
Instead, we’ve regressed, in a way I especially do not like. Mc seems a little….stupider than before, in some way. I’m not saying it because of his pain and trauma, but because of his personality and attitude. I don’t see it, and that was what made me like him.
Hope we see it soon.
Babes, even if Euiyoung’s dad could possibly give him a good life, you have to understand.
He left his child with a LITERAL criminal. You knew, leaving your NEWBORN child with a person you clearly don’t trust.
If times get tough, what else could he do?
Imo, he is clearly not in any position to take back his child, his SON, that he left with a literal criminal. You left him when he needed you most.
That is not a parent who cares for their kid.
And yes, I understand that where the dad was going, was probably not the best choice for a kid. But by saying that the dad leaving Euiyoung there was for his future (because following the dad, Euiyoung would have a bad future), you obviously didnt see the picture clearly.
It wouldn’t have nearly been as bad as leaving him at an orphanage. If you were confident that you could come back and take him to live a good life, what’s stopping you from at least giving him some amount of safety?
Babes, you LEFT HIM with an uncertain future. Nobody knew if he could even have food on the table with a parent like that.
And yes, let’s imagine for a moment that even MC stops caring about him. What can he do? He was a literal child, not even 5 years old. Kids die all the time.
What gave him the confidence that his kid would turn out fine? Better yet that he left Euiyoung for like FIVE years, no?
Ik it’s just me, but I’m just so upset about it. What gives him the right to take back the child he left for so long? And you can’t just do it immediately (blaming the MC for that a bit).
It’s just ugh.
