Cause honestly I'm from Brasil and I never heard a "sorry" from my parents but I always call them out, like if my father is being abusive, or if my mother is being scammed, we raise our voices sometimes, but we still have a great relationship.
I understand Sohan's mental situation, he is so deep in trauma he doesn't want to fight back, maybe he feels he'd be like his father if he did. Buuuuut it's still fucking annoying to read this bastard father being like this, why must the author go so far? The other day he could have killed our seme, he only survived cause he is not a human, but father doesn't know that... And this was treated very casually in the manhwa

TLDR; it's bc of filial piety (out of duty) and this being bottom's trauma response + author wants to show how deep-rooted and poisonous parental trauma can be. Doesn't mean he isn't crazy about the top, just that being this way is how he copes and these r prolly a result of values he was raised with. Pls read entire response before coming at me :3
I get where you're coming from but speaking from personal experience as someone who has a trash relationship (still go to therapy bc of him) with their dad, I can tell you it's just not that simple. The top in this is my fave character but the way I understand how the bottom feels from my very core. You're seeing alien dude being beaten by the dad once in this book, but imagine having to live in fear of that happening every single day since you're pretty much an itty bitty child and not being able to do anything back (bc thats just not how u cope, maybe bc you're scared of being beat within an inch of your life every time you try, FILIAL PIETY , etc.).
There were times where I wouldn't come out of my room for DAYS bc I was scared of my dad's mood swings and the consequences of them (he has bpd and ppd). That was most of my childhood except for the time that he disappeared. But even with all that the filial piety burns thru my blood, so I legit can't abandon him or treat him awfully no matter how much I wish I could. It's never-ending. I have seen some of my friends beat so badly that they had marks all over their body but they're your parents so you gotta just put up with everything and defend them no matter what. Believe me, it's not out of love but duty and bs they feed you from birth. I get why the author showed this, it's like insight into how deep-rooted parental trauma can become and how differently people deal with it.
I'm not condoning the dad's actions (makes my blood boil) im just explaining why bottom is acting the way he is and why the author is dragging on the arc. I also am really hoping it's over bc it wrecked me. Thanks for coming to my lecture

I'm sorry for what you've been through, some humans really should never have had children.
It's true maybe it's hard for me to understand since in my bubble most people had loving parents, that at most would slap their kids but never go further.
I really appreciate the author making something more out of this, not just smut and romance, they probably worked really hard with research or have parents like this irl. I guess with storytelling you have to have negative altercations to get the story going, but sometimes we get overwhelmed with the yaoi genre because there is a lot of pain in these pieces, we have gay misogynistic characters (a lot), rape tropes, parentes that hate their kids, unaccepting society, jerk semes, misunderstandings that leads to hurt, etc.
Thanks for the update, this story helped me get through life, just like Fumi, in hard moments I picture myself as the most gracious princess in the world, it works, people say they wished to see me angry

Last pages on character profile also mentions he liked someone but they got married before he confessed.

In chapter 54 a flashback shows that Peter went to see Ian but it was raining and Ian got sick so Peter said he was "useless" and bailed, also they seemed really attached too, which would explain why Ian is still so fond of him.
If it's, it's even more fucked up, since Peter was the one who tortured Ian and then gets off on fucking him too, very sick, gaslighting shit.

Well, he was the director of the underground formicarium health center, where they torture people, and he personally tortured a lot of people, though we know Ian got tortured by other people cause he doesn't recognize Peter later on.

Honestly the ending sucked so badly, he lost all the bad memories but also the little good that happened recently. Also the theory that they both died in the water, which also sucks.
The only acceptable ending for me would be this was all a dream going in Dooshik's head in the first time he was drowning when picking clams, then he is saved by Jooha and they have a good life together.
This was just like those fanfics where the main character has a shitty life and keeps getting raped or kidnapped
