After reading ch.23, the word that comes to my mind is just, “refreshing” !!!

This level of intimacy, and the gentleness they show each other is just so different from the regular BLs I read where the foreplay is just some 10 seconds I-stretch-your-magically-already-lubrified-bum-with-my-fingers-and-roughly-ram-it-in foolery!!! A whole chapter dedicated to exploring each others bodies and speaking sweet words! They are making LOVE as two people in LOVE !! Just so so sooooo REFRESHING !! What a rushed ending to 50+ chapters of misunderstandings!!! Just 5 panels to make it seem like wow everything is now magically settled and the sun is shining bright and wow now they’ll be inseparable and together forever??!?!?

Bad move, it reminds me of how when I was younger I would make up nonsensical stories and when I no longer had any inspiration I would end them by saying that it was all a dream as if that was groundbreaking.

Spoiler : Like lets be fr, he just traveled the world for a year and was magically able to get rid of his relationship traumas and now he’s ready to be with the CAUSE of his traumas again? Like I get it that even before traveling he already wanted to be w the emperor and that he still loved him a ton but still!!! Now he magically has no issue because honest and upfront about his feelings? Honestly, I really wonder what happened to the author, someone must’ve put pressure on them to end this story quickly because, this chapter at least, makes no sense. I know it’s not the end and in the following chapters we’ll probably get more in depth regarding how he took this decision, but stillllll

I usually almost never feel the need to comment on how a manga has left me feeling but this story is just built different. I do not want to speak on the crazy and very dramatic plot in particular, just so so so much angst and insane events that make you wonder if the author actually hates Mel or sum!

So do not pay much attention to my comment, I’m not saying anything spectacular or giving an original insight on this work of art!

I was so skeptical at first but, oh wow. I barely have enough praise for this masterpiece!!! In my opinion however, the storyline only starts to get good when they visit Kain’s parents. I feel like everything before that was almost bland, mostly due to Kain and the other supporting characters being just too crude and unnecessarily violent. I get that this is an old story and another era but still!! And don’t get me wrong, it continues but gets more bearable.

The character development that Kain goes through is nice, that I have to say. But for all the pain he put the precious Mel through, I don’t know if I’m expecting too much but I still strongly feel like he still needs to redeem himself! The end definitely made me like him a bit more though so I’m not extremely frustrated either.

Mel’s tenderness, strength and boundless compassion actually INSPIRE me, and never in my life would I have thought that a 2D character would make me question myself so much. His mountains of trauma have never managed to sully his pure heart or fully dim his light, it shows especially in the way he cherishes his loved ones even when it’s not fully reciprocated, and continues to be such a sweet sweet baby. I don’t want to ramble on but honestly his character deserves a whole essay, I’m not doing him any justice by being so brief because he’s just that much of a tremendous cutie pie.

This read is so worthy of your time guys!! It deals with a lot of heavy topics.

Btw for all the avid smut reader, the actual lack of smut makes it plenty MORE enjoyable! I feel like we really get to fully understand the depth of their love and affection on a psychological level, and get to understand how destructive of a weapon sex can be in different relationships/dynamics. Anyways let me stop here there’s just so much to say!!
