I actually understand where he’s coming from. Between losing a friend once you confront them on their feelings and keeping that friend by pretending you don’t know about said feelings, the answer is pretty obvious. He loves her already so he doesn’t want to lose her and that’s why he’s sticking to what feels like the safest route. Plus it’s probably his first time having feelings for someone who isn’t toxic to him, so to me he’s allowed to be a little clumsy about it.

And then he lied about nothing happening when Hari drunkenly confessed to him
