I don't understand how it's a fetish. I've started reading bls because it's fucking interesting and I actually really love the lead couples in most cases. Like it's my dream to have a good ass love story, so how does that become a fetish??? And I literally hate shoujo manga. Without bl, idk what to read. Maybe I'll just re-read shounen mangas or manhwas with strong female/male leads. Most anime romance is literally shit too. Like that one anime where the girl is treated like shit and somehow they still end up together. And Ao Hard rude is literally shit too. Without bl, I don't have much to read. Maybe the only shoujo mangas I like is Kaichou wa maid-sama(though the girl is sometimes annoying but the dude is loyal af), and last game. If y'all have not read last game, I totally recommend it.

Fetish on the other hand, is a term to describe someone’s sexual obsession (in a way). For example, someone being really obsessed over yaoi sees a gay couple at their school so they literally stalk them and fantasies about them sexually. If they really are extreme, they might sexually harass them irl or online. However, if they were to just fantasize about them and keeping it only to themselves. I suppose that’s fine even if it (my opinion) wrong to fetishize the real couple.

There’s a line between fiction and reality. Only having a preference for gay pornography is fine but don’t fetishize real lgbt people and their relationships. What if people were discussing about how they were getting off on how hot Justin Bieber and Hailey’s sexual life is. To the point of photoshopping them naked or something. Imagine if I used a normal couple (that isn’t celebrities) as an example. That would have been weird, right?
