Nao, no, you don't have to torment yourslef like that! Family is not one made of marriage contract and birth certificates, it's made of love, you can adopt childeren, love them just fine, build a family with the one you love, no need to agonist over ur gender. T^T

I wonder if Japan will let gay couples adopt? You have to take interviews and stuff to prove you're a good parent for the child right? (I totally agree with you, but idk if Japan is already ok with that..)

Yeah, in that sense 'no'. But he really wants a child in their life, there are lots of ways. and what Nao wants is not children, he wants them to be family which is possible in more ways than one. He just needs to understand that. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

She's not even really family. She abandoned him for another man and then doesn't see him for years. She can go die, the bitch.

I wish Japan an South-Korea and all those other countries would just accept homo/lesbians. I mean, even America made it legal to marry for same-sex couples :( It's so unfair to live in a society where people won't accept you for who you truly are. But hey, i live in the Netherlands, where same-sex marriage was turned legal before any other country, and some people still won't accept them. It really breaks my heart..

People don't have to accept you for who you are. In a diverse world, we are bound to have disagreements. But people should be civil and courteous of EVERYONE. That's part of living together on a diverse planet. Disagreeing on worldviews is normal. Being nasty to other people is never normal. Being cruel is not good. We have to allow people to make choices we disagree with that are not criminally evil (say, I will never support child molestation or rape or murder or robbery), and be civil and good "neighbors." That's the only way to have a peaceful life and get along. Respect others, even if they are different, as long as they are not forcing you to do something or harming you.

If my neighbor wants to have sex with 10 people at the same time while wriggling around in mud and eating raw meat, that's their business. As long as they don't force me to watch or participate or pay for their lube and condoms. They can do as they wish. :D And I will still treat them with civility and courtesy.

Maybe accept is a big word for what i mean. By accept i meant almost the same thing as you. Maybe i mean respect? I don't mean agree with a persons choice to love someone of the same gender. But that's doesn't mean you can think of yourself as a better person. Or that these kind of people are not worthy of being treated as a human being. I know this will always be this way, and that there will always be people like this. Discrimination and racism will never disappear, but at least make the law less discriminating..

Exactly. We may have different lifestyles or politics or religion or econonic statuses or a vision of what a good life is, etc, but we're on the same planet and owe to help each other be at peace with dignity. Because life is better when we're kind. It's pretty simple, but we often forget that.

Adoption isn't a thing in Japan, let alone for a gay couple. Gay couples are even sometimes denied housing in Japan. That's just how it is.

HUH, even adopting isn't a thing? Why..? I mean, not everyone in Japan is capable of having children right? And i bet there are orphans there... That's kinda weird..?
And tbh, that's horrible, why do they care if there are two males living together.. :(

They can adopt. Through legal process of cuz. There is this adult adoption system which most gay couples do to become family under one family name, by this, they become legally family (no marriage of cuz but they can do this) and adoption is very common. You can adopt not only an ophan but also an abused child (abused by parents or ignored by parents) so there r indeed many ways to become family. (▰˘◡˘▰)

I've read some articles and blog posts about it before. If you Google Japan orphans, you will see. It's a cultural thing why they don't adopt and prefer to keep kids in orphanages. Maybe I phrased it wrong. It's possible, but very rare to adopt a child.

Like H Fujoshi said, you can adopt an adult into your family for various reasons and people do it. I have only seen gay couples do it in manga, never heard of any real life stories. So I don't know how prevalent it is. Many people would probably keep it a secret anyway.

Yeah, I remember reading about it after Tohoku disasters. Hubby and I even talked about adopting a Tohoku orphan, but yeah, seems like as a society, they are not big on adopting. That's kinda sad. BUT..what always freaks the hell out of me is how when there is a divorce, it seems normal for the non-custodial parent to just disappear out of the kid's life. Like, one parent gets the custody and the other one is a non-entity. I've seen various manga and dramas when the wife wants to remarry, she sorta has the father say bye and stay away kind of thing. I find that horribly sad.

I always see that adopted children are a HUGE family secret, so i guess Asian people like to keep everything within their own relative bloodline? Idk, but i feel bad for those orphans (orphans in general)

Yep. There's no joint custody in Japan. They give the child to the parent who can spend the most time with the child and that parent gets to decide visitation rights. So if they divorce on bad terms, parents can be spiteful (or maybe they just think the other parent is a bad example), so they cut off contact. It's pretty sad.
