I feel like she’s jealous and wants to ruin her purity and innocence. Because she never got a chance to leave or love herself.
This is the most patriarchal take I’ve seen. Asagiri has gained something almost no woman has in this world and time period —power. Purity??? Really?? There’s no such thing. Asagiri is not less than because she’s a prostitue nor does she hate herself. She feels like she finally helped herself and now some man wants to come buy her off once she finally found her path and place. You all talk like this and then probably also call yourselves feminists.
She is coming from her own world view. Do you think Asagiri wasn’t being told to have sex as a young girl? It’s her whole world view. In a time where the concept of purity was seen as a woman’s value, she was bought and sold since who knows when. So Asagiri HAD to confront the patriarchy and purity culture and her sexuality and she found freedom in it once she overcame the shame of her “purity” being stripped from her. You’re missing all of the socioeconomic aspects that set them apart and that impact their experiences of womanhood. For Asagiri, it’s safe to assume she doesn’t feel shame about sleeping with who she wants to, which is how modern women feel or strive to feel. Shes not going to actually force her. She’s playing mind games with Satako. Satako wants to kiss and be intimate with the guy she loves just like anyone, but she’s going to stop herself because she thinks her virginity (a fake concept) is owed to her father and her only worth/thing she has to offer so she can’t offer it to who she wants when she wants. THAT is what this arc is setting up to address
He’s literally two timing. Like babe please stop going back and forth. If he sleeps with Tj then sleeps with Jo one more time I’m officially labeling him as unlikeable. Him and Jo seemed good and without any remorse he sleeps with Tj. Then he sleeps with Jo, then some other guy then Jo then Tj. Like DAMN stop! Im all for belonging to no one but at some point it becomes ridiculous.
The dialogue was so good this chapter
