maybe i'm an empath or something, but i definitely feel and understand the complexity of Heeseo's character. i could feel the longing and the desperation for love and affection. (i cried so hard coz i could feel his emotions, just like Jinx in Arcane—you can agree or disagree with me, it doesn’t matter.) also i remembered the chapter where Taekyung said that "we all crave love, and so we work as hard as we can to earn it. but we are not always rewarded for our efforts. even so... we still try because we don't know how not to." i was like "yeah (=・ω・=) that make sense"

i think Heeseo and Taekyung are really, like really, bound to be together, and if not, then i don't know anymore. i love how the scars (i think?) on Taekyung’s back look like roots, as he symbolizes the roots and Heeseo symbolizes the tree. he mentioned many times that if Taekyung leaves, he’ll die and he wants to live so bad. there’s a chapter where Taekyung says that he’s the one who's chained up, yet feels like he’s the one in control and all i can think about is how roots provide stability to a tree, and how the roots have control over whether the tree lives or cease to exist. welp a tree without roots (the title), after all, will eventually wither and die. (i love the title so much, the story, and the characters ┗( T﹏T )┛)

additionally, a root can survive without its tree and can grow another tree, but a tree cannot survive without its root. roots can survive for a while even if the tree above them dies and root can also produce new shoots (and eventually a new tree) if it has enough resources. like how Taekyung can survive without Heeseo at all. i remembered that Heeseo said that Taekyung have to kill him first before he can get away. the roots are the lifeline of the tree, and again trees cannot survive without roots just like Heeseo to Taekyung.
