Because he feels obligated to repay back his parents who took care of him despite his “existence.” He truly loves Ungae but because of his position and history was, he couldn’t be with him. Most likely it’s the troupe where the person goes with the one they love, only to leave and pray that their lover would become to hate them so they can both go on the separate, “righteous” path.
