Before the curse, Charlotte was going to marry an old, nasty man but she made a contract with the devil to kill him, preferring to marry her brother instead. (Who actually conspired with her first lovers/painter’s jealous teacher to kill him and accuse him) but she fell in love with Dietrich, wanting to run away with him in fear of her brother killing him. During this time she had their kid when she told him to go to the war to avoid her brother but she has to pay the price for all her contracts and has to die. However, Dietrich ends up making a contract for him to die instead of her so she’s alone with her kid. Then her brother takes them in, making her own son hate her and I forgot the rest. But I do remember her brother making a contract to help make her suffer since the devil has a weird fascination with making her life absolute torture. So many contract (〜￣△￣)〜
