The thing is, though. If he had brought her back to his house, then he would have been in huge trouble for kidnapping her, he wouldn't have been able to protect her because he needed to go hunt monsters and she likely would have been sent back to Zachary by the time the duke comes back. He might have lost his only chance to get his daughter back by doing so.
