I've been reading this every few months and still don't understand how people blame Futaba/Kou when Narumi and Touma manipulated them. Touma even ADMITTED he took advantage of her vulnerability yet Futaba is in the wrong, he is called a "poor guy" and ppl villainize Kou for making mistakes, learning and growing. Sure he isn't perfect but neither the villain.
I hope people realise that Narumi manipulated Kou through his trauma, he heard she was all alone like he used to be, lost himself in her and gave up fighting due to the guilty he felt for moving on from his mother's death. She triggered his PTSD and Kou thought a relationship would hurt futaba. It's only thanks to Futaba and Kominato did he realise that time wasn't standing still and that it's okay to move forward, to be happy.
He got manipulated and taken advantage of by a toxic friend to the point his trauma relapsed after hearing that Narumi was alone like he used to be when he witnessed his mom slowly losing her life. In that moment Kou gave up fighting his mental
health battle and just couldn't continue moving forward bc self doubts and hatred were eating him up. He felt guilty for forgetting his mom after focusing on Futaba, thought a relationship would hurt futaba in his current condition, that he wasn't allowed to be happy, afraid that being loved means losing ppl he loves and that he didn't deserve to be happy. Narumi dragged him back down to the Kou we saw in the bwginning. It's thanks to Kominato he pulled himself out of the depressed, miserable state he was in and realised time keeps moving thanks to futaba. He saw his faults, grows and learns- becomes the happy, life loving Tanaka Kou we later wittness who enjoys a sunset for it's beauty and who was finally free from the guilt and the burden. Kou tries to talk to Futaba but Narumi didn't call back and Touma noticed Kou making his mom and rushed Futaba into a relationship. "Suddenly" Touma couldn't wait any longer, demands a yes out of fear of losing his chance.
And yes they all annoying but that's the point of the manga, they are realistic, humane teens who make mistakes and are finding their way. They are 16.
Touma admitted he took advantage of her vulnerability and pressured her into a relationship. He isn't a saint
i mean he practically force himself on her knowing perfectly she didn't like him at all and was completely inlove with someone else. she did try to like him and end up feeling guilty because of him and she was always was honest with him... he do NOT "deserve better" he was not even in the picture... i dislike him from the start.
Nah, I don't understand ppl who feel bad for Touma but then villainize Kou when he got taken advantage of and manipulated by narumi. He saw himself in her and hearing she was all alone triggered his PTDS. Kou thought a relationship would hurt futaba, that he wasn't allowed to be happy or to continue moving forward. She dragged him right to the beginning but thanks to Kominato he could see clear again and tried to fix everything but then Touma rushed her after he noticed it. He didn't accept a no, insisted and was so manipulative overall it's crazy, he even kept provocating kou on different occasions.
How come people villainise Kou and Futaba yet they end up forgiving Touma who manipulated a vulnerable girl into a relationship. Non of them were right, they all had their faults, didn't always act right and make mistakes which is okay, they are still young and teenagers. Kou unlike Touma grows, learns, apologises when is wrong and doesn't pretended to be a saint. Now I don't fault Touma, he is a kid too but heck he is not better than Kou. He is not even half the man he is.
