i’m excited to see if the artist will explain what happened in the situation where she killed herself. i have a feeling that is was a misunderstanding because she hasn’t really done anything to change the dads feelings toward her and i’m sure he wouldn’t have given her the sword to kill herself. which makes it so much sadder because then there would be the aftermath and the prince’s reaction to seeing his teachers daughter die with such a look of relief.
honestly though what did we expect... the seme in Candy Man is a psycho too.
this could have been so great, hopefully he has some kind of redemption arch. (╯°Д °)╯╧╧
please don't spoil Candy Man, I didn't read that yet ╥﹏╥
and yeah, I had a feeling something was not okay, but him turning out psycho suddenly shocked me anyway xD
and yessss, I want redemption for him tooo, but I also want his wrongdoing be properly addressed, because like THE ORIGINAL PRINCE DIED THAT'S SO FUQIN SAD(/TДT)/
I really don't like how they made it so that her being fat was “filthy” and could be cleaned from her body. It would have been great if they kept her character larger but showed that she became healthier with her eating habits and her skin becoming clear. Anyways that’s the only thing I dislike about this webtoon, other than that 10/10 beautiful!
EXACTLY!! I hated that her fat was seen as ugly, but I also understand the author's sentiment. Being obese isn't something "filthy", but factually it is likely (not always though) less healthy. (Being underweight is the same.) Because she was supposed to be nearing an ideal health point through mana, some weight loss was necessary. She ended up a bit too skinny though, which sort of defeats the purpose and makes it likely that the author just wanted to appeal to audiences and make her fit traditional beauty standards. Disappointing, but not surprising.
From my perspective, I don't think that her being obese was shown as "filthy". Bc she absorbed mana, it made her get rid of the junk ( filthy things as in the junk greasy food she ate , nd the amount of fat and the other harmful things that was in her body bc of intake of unhealthy food ). Nd the author stated it as purifying her body by getting rid of all the impurities that was inside ger body bc of very unhealthy food. ( Though the process felt reallyyyyyyyy unrealistic to me , it could be shown that mana absorbing made her loose all the impurities in her body over the time, slowly resulting her became the "new" her.
Sorry, i tried to explain bt i cant explain it properly bc i am not fully aware of the term that r used to express the information regarding of health.
i'll repeat what another comment said, "I don't really think...her being fat or bigger was the issue in this. At least the issue for the Mc. The fat on the character was more of a metaphor based on the negativity and hatred she'd felt all her life. That's why it like...melted off her, it wasn't a good thing for her. and the Mc even mentioned she was still cute when she was bigger so...
I dont think the point of the story is fat=bad but fat = coping mechanism from years of trauma"
