Probably a reference to the songs and their meanings respective to each character. Skylar’s previous crush on his best friend ended horribly and was the beginning of an intensive bullying that still effects him till today. Even though Cirrus isn’t like Skylar’s old friend (I’m low-key glossing over their first meeting lmao but the point still stands) he couldn’t for a while let go of the fact that Cirrus is the same as him. Skylar is apprehensive of their bidding relationship because he still holds into the hurt of his previous friendship. Basically Skylar is afraid of intimacy- it’s probably why he liked Chan-il from a distance.
Cirrus on the other hand is so infatuated with Skylar- more so than Skylar is with him. But even though their friendship had a rocky start, he has this intense feeling of love for Skylar that he always feel the need to express. Overly touchy, really in his personal space, eager to be included in anything Skylar wishes to do. Essentially their early on relationship was Cirrus smitten with someone who he didn’t have a proper connection with- so it’s almost entirely one-sided.
