On another note I love the complex relationship she has with her little sister. She's jealous of the love she reiceved from her family, and the time she had to sacrifice for her little sister made her harbor more negative emotions. But in the end she still loves her and that's why she had Perial move her sister from the floor to the room.
And then we're revealed that the little sister was also jealous of Karina because she "was" more healthy then her. But she also loved Karina and didn't want her to make friends, which is a selfish type of love but she didn't want to be left alone. Then when the little sister is eavesdropping on the father convo when Karina sends her last letter she was the only one who believed that Karina wasn't lying about being terminally ill.
They were both jealous of each other but also loved each other at the same time which cause their relationship to be too complicated.
Also might I add, if the parents were more stern with Lia the younger sister then she would have been more mature like Karina was. The reason Lia couldn't realize that stealing her sister's time for her own benefit is because she was constantly colded and never scolded about her behavior. Even the family doctor told her it was alright to lie to Karina so she couldn't leave her side.
