I didn't realize how less gory it would be like Karas kills multiple hostages before Abel stops him in the novel. Now I'm wondering how much the estate scene is gonna change bc Karas kills multiple kids there and totally would of killed a newborn baby had Abel not found her first. I really wish they would of added the part where Kin offers himself up in the novel if he couldn't finnd a suitable partner for Karas it was so funny

I'm pretty sure he's not half human and it was probably a case of surrogacy. I have a feeling the mollusk monster can lay some sort of eggs as well as inseminate, so it did both and Doha just carried him.
Also, first off, Octo's a monster. We can't assume it has the same morality as humans, multiple other species partake in incest like relations because they don't have 'morals' like we do due to our ability to speak (psychology at play here). It probably bonds to the first thing it sees and is unable to distinguish platonic and sexual 'feelings'. We know that Doha refers to himself as it's Dad so for all we know, maybe it only says Papa bc it's been Pavloved to do it. Like how human babies repeat words only because of our reactions to them saying it and not because they understand what it means.
