I honestly doubt Paul and the emperor will ever get together. This is a realistic story about a woman named Paulinna who gets sent to a war by her father hoping she would die in the battlefield. In the end, she becomes a knight worthy of becoming commander whilst fighting the prejudice of others.
I dont think this is a romance exactly, but a story about her. Not her and the emperor just her. About her struggles in the battlefield as a woman, and then after the empire iz united about what happens to her once she is out of the war and thrown into society and her struggles as a woman who defies customs and norms. I think that's why she wasn't drawn feminine, think about it even other stories have their FL be conventionally attractive, or the plot shows that at some point the FL WILL end up becoming queen, and the romance is highlighted. But not in this story, the romance is just a one sided crush.
That's why her and the emperor WILL PROBABLY NEVER HAPPEN. The emperor having a crush on her was a little spice i guess, but like he said he has to let her go. In my opinion she can never see him in that light, and even if she did her lotalty would interfere. She is too prideful in the fact she is a knight. In the end she will just become a treasured companion, and both will move on with their lives. Maybe he will tell her when they are both older, oh i used to like you, or maybe he'll just keep it to himself.
I do hope she gets a happy ending (NOT WHITH THE FAT DUDE HE'S SUS AS FUCK, APPARENTLY HE IS JUST USING HER BUT COME ON WE SEE A SNAKE COILING AROUND IN THE NEW COVER AND HIS LAST NAME HAPPENS TO BE SNEKE HOW OBVIOUS)
Like, she wanted a wife and people in her house so she wouldn't be alone. She just isn't interested in men, but does so because everyone else keeps pushing her. I hope she meets a widow who already has kids and they fall in love or form a deep bond and she gets to ha e a family of her own without her having to get pregnant.

I JUST HAVE HIGH HOPES THIS WONT END UP WITH A MIRACLE HAPPENING THAT MAKES HER EMPRESS BC OF THE POWER OF LOVE AND SHE HAS LOTS OF BABIES WHILE BEING A PERFECT QUEEN BUT STILL BEING A LITTLE BAD ASS BC OMG STRONG WOMAN.

there is LITERALLY NOTHING AGAINST YOU GETTING TOGETHER WITH HIM. Maybe the royals but really, he is basically law so the fuck that matters. At this point it's pissing me off how much they're making her to be pathetic. If she's lived for hundreds of years, YOU'D THINK SHE WOULD HAVE A BRAIN.
The story is okay, feels like it drags on tbh. I've skipped chapters and i still feel like i know the gist of it. I'm just going to wait until its complete then read the ending good riddance
