aight for those who haven't read the manhwa, and if you just came here after watching the k-drama, I suggest you read this from the very BEGINNING. you'd be able to fully grasp and see the bigger picture. unlike from the kdrama, they literally just slapped all 220 chapters into 8 episodes. The pacing was so messy, it felt rushed, and there was no emotional build up. They did donald na soooo dirty, and the villains and union thing was so damn boring. It felt so confusing. The way gray yeon was in season 2 was so fucking disappointing, like where did the calm and calculating gray yeon go? his fighting was such a letdown. He got beat up by colton choi, when it was supposed to be the other way around. They literally excluded other main characters UGHHHH. Season 1 was great. but this?? it would've been much more better if they made it up into 3 seasons.
just pasting it here. this is for those new readers. I can't move on from how bad s2 live was ITS BEEN BOTHERING ME SO MUCH.
Some changes that happened in the live adaptation:
-The Union has a shuttlepatch or ranking where Baekjin is no. 1 and Baku is no. 2.
- Si-eun has many intense fight scenes in the manhwa and he also uses many weapons like cellphone, bag, belt, can, curtain, etc. and then his first opponent was Choi Hyoman, whom he defeated by tying his bag to Hyoman's hand and slapping him.
- Si-eun doesn't get hit much by the opponent in the manhwa, but in the live adaptation, he gets easily hit by his opponent.
- They also didn't include Baekjin's participation in a math competition in the live adaptation where he need to make a one math problem question and let someone answer it. After that, he found out that Si-eun was the only one who had the answer to his difficult math problem question. So it's not just a battle of fists between the two of them, but also a battle of brains. Actually, every competition they participated in, the two of them always placed first.
-Baku and Baekjin are not childhood friends because Baku's childhood friend was Gotak, he only met Baekjin because of Jimmy Bae (a character who is not in the live adaptation)because Baekjin was the one who interrupted Baku and Jimmy's fight before, so Baku is angry with Baekjin.
-The main game played by the Baku's gang is Billiards, not Basketball.
-Then the sport that Gotak left behind was Boxing, not taekwondo.
-Baku and Gotak had another best friend before they met Si-eun and that was Jin Gayool (not included in the live adaptation).
-Si-eun has six friends in the manhwa, not just three: Baku, Gotak, Juntae, Jin Tae-oh, Jin Gayool, & Im Ju-yang.
-The Baku's gang's meeting hall is in the Billiard hall near the intersection ally.
-Seongje has a three second rule before he fights that's why he's known as a mad dog but only Si-eun broke that rule when Si-eun defeated him on the rooftop, but they didn't include that rule in the live adaptation.
-Baekjin has a manager or right hand man named Kingsley/Seokhyun (not included in the live adaptation), after Baekjin's death, Kingsley met with Seongje and Jimmy to continue the union, even without Baekjin, his rules would still continue.
-There is no CEO character higher than Baekjin in the manhwa.
-Baekjin's death was not shown in the live adaptation, but in the manhwa the reason for his death was an accident or he decided to die because he didn't leave in the middle of that road.
-The final battle took place in the Han River area.
-In the live adaptation, it can be seen that Seongje did not participate in the final battle, but in the manhwa, Seongje sided with Eunjang High, but for personal reasons only because he wanted to have a 1v1 with Ji Hakho (not included in the live adaptation).
-Baekjin's fighting ability is not because of what Baku taught him, his ability is because of the environment he grew up in when he was bullied,he learned to stand up and fight those who hurt him.
-They also didn't include Baekjin's dying scene when he imagined his life with Si-eun, he imagined him and Si-eun going to school together and talking to each other, and he imagined all of that while lying bloody on the street and he said the line "Si-eun, I wonder if we met a bit earlier, we would've been friends"
Havent read the manhwa but i knew S2
Havent read the manhwa but i knew S2 was rushed. This helped so much, i hated how they nerfed Sieun
THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS!! I just finished Live adaptation S2..and felt like S1 was much better imo..so I have been thinking about reading the manhwa and your comment answers everything I was confused about! Do you know where I can find the manhwa that has the characters Korean name?? Like you mentioned Sieun having 6 friends which the rest are Jin Tae-oh, Jin Gayool, & Im Ju-yang. This leaves me thinking that there's a version that uses Korean name and not Gray and Stephen.. like I prefer reading them in Korean names.. so it's less confusing..
