Hey guys, I want it to make a research (an honesty one). First of all, I love bl/yaoi, but I I often question myself how that's affecting me, both in negative and positive ways (but focusing on the negative)
So..
1.how do u think reading yaoi has affected you in a negative way
2. And in a positive way.
I'll start:
1. I think that my view on some gay couples changed and a quite dont like that, its like seeing them with pink bl glasses. And also get me wondering about their sexual lifes. Its not like I imagine things in a pornograpich way, faaaar from that, just a feeling of curiosity.
2. Because of bls Im constantly rethinking forms of love (like couple habits, ways of showing love etc) and I like that. The reasons some people fall in love. It kinda makes me believe a little bit more in love ♡
The only affect it has on me is I now prefer bl couples than gay couples in real life. It’s either you accept the lgbtq community or they will label you homophobic, etc... bl couples don’t seek acceptance from anyone, they focus on their relationship and who they like regardless of who accept them or not. They are view for who they are and not their sexuality. I wish it was like that in real life. Don’t get me wrong, I’m libertarian when it comes to the lgbtq community but they gotta realize not everyone will accept them and that doesn’t mean those who don’t accept gay relationships are homophobic. I’ve seen a lot of that in the media and on social platforms. One of my long time friend is gay and he respects me because I may disagree with gay relationships but I view him as a human and not his sexuality. The lgbtq community wants everyone to accept for their sexuality and not for who they are as people/humans.
positive: i mostly like shounen ai and fluffy bl but also read a fair amount of yaoi. even so, i just enjoy reading bl in general and love authors who present gay couples realistically. writing emotionally vulnerable characters especially if they’re men is very appealing to me. (●'◡'●)
negative: i rarely read any other genres, sadly. it’s not like bl is the only thing i read because i like a good fantasy manga/hwa too once in a while, but it feels completely different from when my friend recommends me a romance manga with a hetero couple. i find that so strange. additionally, so many bl’s are normalizing r*pe like it’s nothing so i get really frustrated knowing people will only focus on the romance/smut in yaoi specifically and not realize how unrealistic and problematic it is.
What I mean is, not everyone will accept same sex relationship and one of the main reason is because of their religion but that doesn’t mean they hate the person. That’s the issues we now have in today’s society, once a person disagrees with same sex relationships, the lgbtq community automatically labels that person as homophobic etc. We don’t accept straight people because they are straight, why can’t the same applies to the lgbtq community??
I could give less of a fuck ab what made u even think in this way bitch like pls u act like the lgbtq+ community needs approval and wants to be accepted. I could give less of a fuck ab what straight people think ab me and Whether they accept me or not. Ur homophobic and fetishize gay men, with all respect kys
If you understood what I wrote, you will know that I want everyone to to view as humans and not their sexuality. Gay people are being recognized for their sexuality and not because they are also human being created equally as a straight person, which makes it difficult for them. But your puny brain has some defects. Au revoir
Whaaat? .... i just got a good example of how there's straight people out here that read bl and at the same time are homophobic..
Girl, u know because people die due society
non acceptance over lgbt people, right? Bl its just fictional written mostly by straight japanese women.. Its a right to people not treat you differently on work cause you're gay, it should be a right being able to kiss on public the one u love, its not acceptable to get beaten or get rape cause u love someone of the same sex. And all that happens cause people don't ACCEPT lgbts, so yeah, thank god in real life we're fighting for respect!
(Sorry for the english mistakes! Its not my first language)
I relate with all!!!! I mostly read cute fluff stuff, and the ones I love the most are the realistic (shimanami tasogare ♡♡, here u are, etc). And definitely I think its a huge part of us women liking to read bls its to see men in a sensitive way, and in a way that's not harmful for us women, we can just read in peace without seeing ourselves being sexualized/written as if we're dumb (and i get really uncomfortable, even after reading more than 400 mangas seeing how the ideia of uke in alot of mangas its basically a projection of women in a bad way, submissive, dumb, etc) . But YES the problem is that for many all thats horrible to happen with women suddenly its ok if its two men. (Bj alex its the huge example -for me-, its just rape being normalize one time after another)
Dont agree with u but a totally see whats your pov here. The thing is, straight people categorize people that arent straight with a huge label over their sexuality. Same as white people with poc, etc. In a ideal world we shouldn't be, in my pov, categorize as gay/bi/lesbian/trans etc, and just be persons THAT kiss men, kiss women etc, no big deal. But right now we're suffering --a lot-- of prejudice, so its so important to recognize as a community, and stuck on that label and being proud and fighting for the right of being A gay, A bisexual etc.
Like race that was created by white people to justify slavery. But right now its just stupidity denying your identity as a poc, cause without that sense of community its impossible to fight a system that its trying to destroy u everyday
Yes you are right. I agree with your comment. I’m apart of a group in college and the main focus of the group is to view our fellow neighbours, friends and more as humans created equally by our creator or whatever deities one prefers without all the labels created by society in general. With labels also comes limitations. In today’s world, no one is willing to have a conversation and come to an understanding, it’s like “ I don’t like what you said so you are this and that” my apologies if I come off as “homophobic” to anyone. My first comment about preferring bl couple over real gay couples is because what I’ve witnessed from some lgbtq members in my city and on social platforms, they seek acceptance from straight or religious people. Just do you regardless of who accepts you or not. I accept everyone regardless of race or sexuality. I may disagree on some issues but that doesn’t mean I hate you. If I was homophobic, I won’t be like reading bl or sitting in the same room right now with my boyfriend’s sister. I will bring up your comment in our next discussion.
My friend is not homophobic, calling her homophobic because you disagreed with what she said is ridiculous. Her religion forbids same sex relationships. She’s not going to compromise her religion to support my ideologies, that will make her a fake friend. It’s already been discussed and we have a mutual understandings. She’s been ridiculed a lot in the Islamic community for being my friend but she never changed because she accepted me for who I am. We both use this account and I recommended bl comics to her because I read it too. I had to come on here and say this because some of you can be judgemental when you don’t understand something.
Man.... the whole first 5 chapters were pure fluffiness and warm heart... so the author thought " wow, how can i make this cute story have a terrible end? ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~"....................... wtf...... like .......
Sarah was finally home, caillou was very happy to see her (me thinking how cute the story was and how I love to read established couples)
Caillou nihao (reaching ch 6)
What? (⊙…⊙ )(╯°Д °)╯
Me (a bisexual) everytime I cross with a bisexual here :
Hiiii dear fellow ♡♡♡♡♡ ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶
Omg same
It hits different right?
Fr! It makes me feel appreciated cuz a lot of the time it's like "I'm not into guys/girls( same sex) but i like you" i like it when characters actually acknowledge that they are queer even if they still like the opposite sex ~
Yesss, i hate that, dont know if its something common in Japan, Korea (cause I saw in so many mangas) but the way they make those men "straight" EVEN THOUGH they're in love AND having sex with a guy its... unbelievable.
"Im straight but i fell for you ♡☆"
Bestie im afraid to tell u this, im afraid to tell u this : you're queer ♡ (thanks god kekeke)
Not you quoting a tiktok audio HAHA love that
