The side story feels like how the author wanted to start the series and condensed it to a couple of chapters. I lowkey like the side story a bit more...at least Beom in the side story. It's the same vulgar mouth but he was a bit more mature and endearing than in the main story. But maybe to make it longer, author/editor decided to keep grandma alive.

i see it as the author confirming that, however sunwoo's life turned out, beom was always going to crash into it and fall in love with him (≧∀≦)
I gotta give it to KID - lol using his initials is diabolical! Ido gave the best response. There's nothing he can say that will give the best explanation to his behavior. Even I'm confused with how he handled things. Like why did he rape Sejin, again, after Ijung, when it was obvious he was angry at Ijung and he handled his brother after what he did. Explaining is not making excuses, just explaining would suffice but there's nothing to explain! So yeah, just kept saying sorry is really the best thing he did.
In the novel, the last part tells it from Kwon Idos point of view, and you understand a little more.
After Sejins betrayal, he just was blinded by rage. Ido never saw himself loving anyone, and fell in love with Sejin. There were no security cameras in Sejins room, so he rationalized it in his mind, and Sejin didn't explain, and egged him on.
Not that Sejin was wrong, he just was betrayed himself with the grape.
But iirc, Ido was well aware of Ijung's behavior. Ijung was known to be violent, esp to omegas. Ido knew Ijung came to the house. Ido also saw how beaten up Sejin was, with or without security cameras. So I would think he has an idea on what happened before he came in the apartment.
If I was completely wrong, then I stand corrected but also if I was wrong when Ido's dumb for not.connecting things together before he arrived at Sejin's place.
Right. Im not justifying it. Even Sejin in the latest comic says 'you knew he graped me'.
If you remember, previous Ido thought Sejin had 'spread his legs' for others before. Omega he had encountered always wanted something. He was a condescending, arrogant jerk.

But even if Sejin did sleep around, he shouldn't have looked that beaten up, so much so that he had to flee from their house, if it was with consent. Also, he knew Ijung's tendencies. So he was really just a jerk - it's empty up there in his head. He refused to analyze and claimed to be the victim in the situation. He did somewhat realize he was wrong, albeit still prideful, while Sejin was bedridden but man, he still could not communicate well and leading Sejin to off himself. I can't find any viable reason why he did what he did, not to justify but at the least make sense how he decided things.
I agree people's emotions are complex. Sometimes I do things that I didn't think through or wonder why I did them. And ito who is arrogant conceded condescending, ann had just lost his grandfather, and justifying it that he was a s***, did what he did.
Which is why in the afterlife, he doesn't feel he deserves sagent, and knows what he did was unforgivable.
Also another spoiler, kwan ido didn't feel he deserved him, and in the second life was going to let sagin go and go kill himself after the purfume collaboration. Again, still thinking of himself instead of him
Ugh, and not just after his grandpa died. He already had an idea how Sejin was treated at home yet he still did what he did. Like bruh, grow some balls and brain.
He was right that he does not deserve Sejin but he owes Sejin so much he needs to serve Sejin until he dies. Not abandon him. It's one thing to think about dying but another thing to actually plan it. Sejin really just wants distance but not total abandonment. Ido needs to be punched like once up to 3 times to knock some sense in him lol.
