The thing I don't really understand about Endeavor is why, knowing he made that mistake with Touya, he kept making the same mistakes with Shoto? It seems to me that Endeavor always felt at fault for what happened to Touya, but why did he do the same to Shoto? He let the obsession for first hero place poison him again, didn't he get it that it was toxic to do that to his own children? Plus I think he missed the issue why all Might was 1st place: he thinks All Might is better because he's stronger and has a stronger quirk. Truth is All Might had to train to get where he was and also he was completely devoted to being a real hero, with other people's needs in mind and not his own pride to cloud his view. Endeavor should have worked on himself before deciding on starting a family imo. As a hero he still gets tihe job done anyway (Hero killer wouldn't agree on this lol), but as a father he fails.
Anyway I'm really enjoying the whole story, I think the characters are very realistic and well written :)
indeed. he stayed selfish even when he lost a child because of that selfishness.
the way i see it endeavor wasn't able to put much effort into training touya especially after his diagnosis. so his quench for power wasn't fulfilled thus he kept holding it in until shoto was born. he didn't even do much to correct touya probably because he didn't think touya's obsession was that deep + he became more focused on shoto. so even though he ended up losing his eldest son, he saw the reason for that loss to be his inability of being an understanding parent, not his obsession of becoming #1. so in a way he was making excuses because of his thirst.
"touya didn't die because i wanted him to surpass all might. he died because i neglected him and that's my fault. so that doesn't mean i have to stop my endeavors (pun intended) because it did anything wrong"
