i have a question for you guys. my friend recently came out as non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns. i obviously want to respect that, but I have a question. when you use they/them in sentences, for example, say my friend was getting a cat, would I say "they are getting a cat," or "they is getting a cat." sorry if its a dumb question btw I was just curious

I think "are" would be appropriate?? not sure tho
well i am not sure but i think it would be they are
It would be better if you said "they are getting a cat" and my friend also just came out as non-binary
I think you would follow normal grammar and use are
i think you should use "they is" since only the pronouns changes, so u would not be confuse next time
If I'm not wrong, the grammar wouldn't change.
So you still use verb to be in plural, "They 'are' getting a cat"
Correct me if I'm wrong tho-
My bestie is also non binary, honestly are/is anything is fine. They also prefers My leige, Supreme Commander jk
