SPOILERS AHEAD**You can’t expect so much to just happen in 30 chapters. Plus the rape scenes are so they reinforce the fact that seunghoe is misdirecting his attraction for nakyum. In fact, I usually don’t like the rape for character development but in this setting it would make a lot of sense. Especially because back then, money and status allowed you to do all kinds of fucked up shit to people poorer than you. This is pretty actually pretty accurate for Korean history. Very loose morals. And also you don’t know this yet, but in the recent raws, Nakyum actually passes out from I think some sort of fever due to the exacerbated duration of the sodomy. I looked it up cuz I’mma curious hoe, and apparently it’s the swelling and infection of the ass hole. Pretty cool. Anyway in the chapter you can kind of see seunghoe sort of worrying for nakyum (he had a flashback and a guilty look). Either this, or he’s remembering the time they had sex, and got turned off or wasn’t interested in having sex with the other guys. In any case, he favors Nakyum more than he thought and sort of realizes this towards the end of it. (i.e for sex purposes because of how attractive nakyum looks, and or bc he felt bad for making him sick) Usually in manhwas, they draw it out a bit more so it’s more profitable but the character development seems to be coming faster than the standard (most likely to keep reader engagement) Anyway the beginning chapters (1-50 average) are only showing actions and not the motives behind it
Manhwas/manhuas are very different from japanese manga,
Manga is more compact even with a lot of chapters
Manhwas/manhuas are actually 30-40% white frames but you just don’t notice it. It’s a method for efficiency and quality because they have to add color and that takes longer. Enuff with this sad rant, I’m glad my POV was useful if not to the main op. I wanted to continue posting to forums like these giving a “bit” <- (failed attempt at sarcasm) of a paragraph to put out my perspective and to wish that people change their opinions even slightly. I also like to communicate with people here on Mangago, and hopefully many are nice, also communicating in this comment section because I think people can call me a real fan of POTN ^_^7 Considering the historical context, the differences in status, personality of respective characters (and the sex addict Lord Hoe), sure things are complicated and toxic right now, but I hope things will get better between the both MCs... Love can be so complicated, not only in fictions, and tbh I like impossible love and struggling romances... That's good if we share interest for the same story and can get along.
I think that's perfectly fine and even better when we reply fast to someone, especially when the topic concerns a very bad opinion or review, this can counter balance the whole idea. Like that when the topic/question is still on page 1 or 2, more people will see our answer.
I don't know if you were there some times ago, but people were making theories and writing long thoughts about POTN, it was so interesting to read. Now these people don't come much here, but I hope they'll come back to share their thoughts with us again. This is one the thing I like the most about this story, the comment section is lively and the readers are communicative with each other, even though at times it can be toxic.
There's nothing we can do because the plot includes dark and controversal subjects.

57 chapters later and the MC has still done nothing but rape the painter until he started to like it, what’s your excuse now? If you want a historical manga with actual character development and story read Bena. Stop trying to excuse the artist’s reliance on rape to further the plot.

So agressive... I can see that POTN isn't the kind of story that's romantic or lovey-dovey as well, and maybe it's why it is so popular too.
This plot was build and relies entirely on the difficult personality of the ML Seungho and his relations with people around him and how this insanity of him will eventually affect his love life in case he might encounter a partner. And the fact that he's a noble and the guy whom he's interested to is a younger, much naive and low born makes it even more difficult. I think you failed to at least grasp that and that's why you hate it so much. This story is a difficult one and it's fine if you dislike it but going bashing those who do is no good.

I'm not bashing anyone for reading it, you can like what you like, but trying to pass it off as this masterpiece that's worthy of being praised when it's just a giant rape fetish manhwa set in a time that can excuse it is so corny to me. Additionally, I'm not mad at this manhwa for choosing to include dark themes in their story, I don't expect sunflowers and rainbows in everything I read but I'd at least expect it to have some decency while including it. This manhwa is literally just some noble getting off on controlling and assaulting someone of lower status until they like it and you just admitted it.

This story is not bringing awareness to it's historical setting, it's a way for fangirls to squeal while the hot top rapes the bottom for the 40th time.

You're not bashing anyone but you look very upset because this story that you just find it to be a giant rape fetish plot is successful. If you already made up your mind about this one, then why do you keep arguing? When I dislike something I'm not losing time on it. At best I'll just put one or two comments and leave.

TBH I took my distances about POTN, I have my own reasons but also because I find their relationship too unbalanced for the moment, and I wonder how the Author will make them a real couple with deep, sincere feelings aside all the sex. Seungho and Nakyum it's like water and oil getting mixed together, hopefully they're humans so there's way they can overcome their differences even though it'll be difficult.
We know that if readers only want to read a yaoi smut, they'll be satisfied as long as they can find smut with a bit of plot, but if we're searching for plot and realism, this one may lack on some elements and responses. For exemple, how Nakyum became so good at drawing gay erotic art? Did he witness men in such situations when he was a child? Or is it because he was attracted to men from a young age...?
And Yoon, how does he manage to keep such a vast land and house with all the servants in it while litterally doing nothing all days? We know he's a noble, but since his family had left him all alone, how does he make a living...? Don't tell me his money just fall from the sky because he's a noble.
It's like the Author just throw this and that and let it at it, yet some persons like me need practical responses. I asked these some times ago, and no one was able to reply, but most just don't care about these details.
Though I'm aware that people also like this story because it has its parts of mystery and unanswered responses, and because of the extreme personality of Seungho and its interactions with the other characters. Of course, with a ML like him, there's huge probability Uke-kun would get raped, and controlled since Seungho is a noble. But let's be honest and aknowledge that this story is a bit more profund than what you describe.
