I kinda understand Jerry...I mean he also likes Ilya but he is scared that Ilya's feelings towards him was just because of the guidebook or the og novel. He wanted Ilya to love him back sincerely not because it is supposed to be for the plot. I really feel bad for him cause imagine its only you who got transmigrated into the different world and that kind of event is actually a huge secret to keep, and when you have otherworldly problems you dont have anyone to share it with but yourself. （/TДT)/
