Okay but I have a feeling Fukusuke is trying to manipulate the relationship between the new guy and Shou to be so bad that Shou leaves/gets fired??
My feelings for Fukusuke are so mixed because I really love him as a character, but the things he's doing are just n o t okay - poor little Shou. He might actually be the only one in this manga that hasn't done anything wrong apart from, you know, punch a few people :c
Okay
Anyone who isn't thoroughly impressed with this in every single way iS LYING.
The art
The plot
The realistic characters and character development was just so spot on and -quite frankly - REFRESHING.
Bonus: Everything was consensual and fluffy but also just AHH.
No, it just means that this person has his own taste in manga ;). I don't think 'On doorstep' is a bad manga, but I'm not THAT impressed. The art is truly beautiful (one of the best, I suppose), but I couldn't really empathize with those characters - and I'm not suffering from lack of 'empathy', believe me. I think they really have fallen in love too quickly and without real reason... Seme turned into a loyal puppy out of nowhere. I was also surprised that uke was okay with starting a relationship with a thief, despite of being ex-policeman - it seems a bit unrealistic, he should be more wary. I've read more than 2k yaoi mangas, so I'm a picky reader now ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
No, I didn't forget that, and I don't think it really matters. Although I'm not from NY, or even US, I can't see how is it connected with the things I mentioned. Hmm, are cops in US so laid back that they don't care about such things? Or is it an American thing to fall in love with someone who is basically a stranger? Your statement suggest so. Honestly, I have no idea if that's a truth, but maybe you can explain it to me.
I mean, people work in different ways? Just because you find the relationship unconventional doesn't mean the characters do. And different people like / have different pacing when it comes to romance and what-not. 'Love' works in weird ways, I guess. I think there are a lot more corrupt relationships out in the REAL world, than this manga depicts.
To bring back to what I've always thought - these are sTORIES. They're fiction and they should be treated like one. If the author decides or chooses that the characters act the way they do, then they do? The only time I'll not use this argument point is when a character rapes another character (a theme used lightly within yaoi tbh) and they show it as being alright, or, the 'uke' falls in love with the seme for doing those things.
This manga is still one of the better ones, regardless of the characters attitudes and personalities, so. I'll stick by what I originally said :-)
I guess I'm a bit oversensitive about thief x policeman romance, because I was working with cops due to my university studies. Also, psychological experiments show, that policemen are more wary and suspicious than other groups (even more, I suppose, when they know that someone is an offender). I think that a few more chapters with ice-breaking between the characters and visible initial distrust on Reese's side would make this story more realistic. But well, you're also right - fictional works have their own rules...
I love this so much but it equally pisses me off!
I appreciate Junoh has been through a lot, but he just needs to say what he's worrying about all the time, or what's going through his head because he's hurting Minoh by trying to deal with it all himself!
There hasn't been a soft moment between those two for AGES since Chan Hyun got involved smh - I really love Chan Hyun as a character, but his ways of doing things annoys me.
I really hope Minoh beat the shit out of him (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
