some yall in the comments act like you’ve never read a yaoi before #-.-)
idk why this is still a discussion. i don’t think yall realize how colonial and homophobic it is to be insistent it isn’t yaoi when the author LITERALLY HAS LABELED IT YAOI AND THIS SITE AND STORES HAVE LABELED IT YAOI.
yaoi and queer stories are ALLOWED to be multi-faceted. yaoi/queer stories are allowed to be more than just cutesy BL or toxic yaoi. get your head out of your ass and wake up
No one is being homophobic in here. We all read yaoi, we don't have time to be homophobic.
Contrary to what you are saying, koogi has stated times and times that KS was a psychological thriller. Not a yaoi. Since that was never the focus of the story(a quick Google search will do the job).
It does indeed depict a relationship between two men (reason why it's found in the Bl section - to say to the reader. Two men will be in here having relations / since yaoi depicts homo affective relations) but in any moment is it affective nor romantic, since we know sangwo never liked boom nor viewed him in any loving form, only manipulation and control.
But that aside, if you read the notes and the QA between the reader's and the author, it's stated that sangwo is both hetero and homophobic. And that can be perceived throughout the story, through his actions and comments.
Yaoi is surely multifaceted. It can be fluffy, horror, thriller and much more. It's an amazing genre full of potential. However it's important to understand that even tho we as readers have our own opinions and canons, we must respect the stories as they are intended per the author and not force our views of things upon a story.
Finally, when trying to make your point come across, don't be rude. Be polite and use the comments as they are intended, to be civic and proper. Have a nice day.
you don’t come to me spouting colonial exclusionist homophobic rhetoric, lie about me calling you a “slur” (homophobic tourist, if anyone was wondering), and then block me like the little bitch you are.
this is why queer history and education is important. ESPECIALLY education about queer identity and expression that is DECOLONIAL. cuz that’s how you get people spouting things like “killing stalking isn’t yaoi” or “heartstopper isn’t BL”
like yall need to WAKE UP and stop downplaying and erasing queer stories like that. yaoi/BL can be multifaceted whether or not the author doesn’t realize it yet. stop dictating what can’t or can be considered “yaoi.” dictating is a white man’s thing. WAKE UP
and if you can’t seem to fully understand this type of politics and academia, you are either too young to understand or are probably a colonial homophobic tourist :•|
if you can’t understand queer nuance, you also probably aren’t mature enough for this website or anything yaoi related.
and i’m done arguing with white ppl and children so if you come at me homophobically arguing against this, you will blocked on site. and that might sound hypocritical, but @Meandme literally fucking lied about me calling them a slur. if you think “homophobic tourist” is a slur, oh bitch, you definitely benefit from white privilege or colonialism, cuz only those kinds of ppl call non-slurs slurs and get offended by it. seems like i hit a nerve or spoke a truth
Notice how everyone says this but never manages to find out where the author said that because she didn't say that, it wasn't focused on bl ofc everyone knows the main focus was psychological thriller. Although she has said she didn't want to romanticize the relationship between an abuser and that of a victim as it often happens in bls and most media, she never denied the bits of "romantic" aspect in the manhwa. Yes it isn't meant to romanticized but it's still a yaoi
so am i right in understanding the chapters appear to get uploaded like 3 or so days after they get published? trying to understand when and how often i need to come back to this story for updates. cuz i remember someone saying its every friday that mingwa publishes but then saw it get uploaded mondays (im in pacific time zone btw)
if u add this to your "reading list" u will get an update notification :)
Most likely ,it gives time for the author to make money.
I think it's uploaded every ten days, so we get a new chapter in this days 2, 12 and 22
