I love this so much but at the same time hate it. It has a very interesting premise but it is problematic as hell.
My friends! Our prayers have been answered! Freakin finally!! Now I don't have to have conflicting feelings for liking this manga because it started with rape. It was the only thing holding me back from fully loving the manga ; ^ ;
Vol 6 Ch 6 is very important to me because in other similar Yaoi/BL manga that I can recall, the rapist would apologize to the victim but he would give him the bullshit excuse that he just loves the other so much blah blah, etc. Here though, Maya genuinely felt horrible for the things he'd done to NemuNemu before. I love that he didn't try to explain himself for doing such things, he just acknowledges how much of an ass he was, and begged on his knees for forgiveness. I just...I don't know how to explain it properly in words how much I love V6Ch6! BANZAIIII!!
totally doesn't excuse his actions AT ALL but it's definitely refreshing to see a manga tackle the issue of rape, especially 6 volumes in. It's not something that should be ignored and I hope in the future this mangaka will make the sex consensual between all her couples :)
I think we're starting to see a new trend in manga, where rape is becoming less acceptable/romanticized. Chapter 6 made me so happy!
Yes, its like sensei has matured and reflected over the years. But I would like to see more talk between maya and nemu about this, but I cant complain, at least this smooth out that disconfort that a felt about this manga, which for the rest is amazing.
I honestly thought/hoped there would be a threesome...or at least a serious love triangle haha. But this is one of the mangaka's better/less problematic works.
