This is just my opinion..You guys must think first, i think in the first life timeline, Lee Sangmin was in the spot of Jinhyun..i think he was the one who create new antidote and many research that Jinhyun did by using his memories of his first life...i think Lee Sangmin did all the research in the first timeline but Jinhyun just took it with no intention because Jinhyun did not remember the researcher in his first timeline...i'm here did not trying to support or cover up Lee Sangmin wrong doing but we must think first before judge...Lee Sangmin was being compare since child with his brother but now he have to try against Jinhyun by the order of his father...i'm know he was stressed by the abuse of his father and people surround him...the story did tell us about Lee Sangmin was a genius but he cannot fight the most experience Jinhyun who know about all the modern medicine knowledge...in my opinion, their role being swapped because Jinhyun trying his best changing his fate while Lee Sangmin was in the spot of Jinhyun like his first timeline who was a miserable person...i'm just kinda hope they become friend again and stop the jealousy and the mean things they did...i hope Lee Sangmin can be free and Jinhyun can get his happiness like he wish for...you guys can argue with me but this is purely just my opinion of the story...
I don’t know a lot about medical journals. But, I think it takes a lot more people to write and come up with the new research, and one of the medicines that Jihyun helped come up with was by a guy in the company, Amy’s from. I also think that if Sangmin had created all those papers for the medical journals, then the whole world would have talked about it like they do with Jihyun. I think that Sangmin has always been focused on revenge for his mother and the hatred of his family. Jihyun just became a part of that plan when he took first place back in high school. Sangmin is a highly competitive person, and I don’t think he likes the idea of being behind someone he feels is “inferior” to him. Don’t forget that one of the ideas that his father beat into in his head was that if he was ever going to be worth anything, he would have to be the best at everything. I’m not trying to say that what Sangmin has done is justified because it’s not.
I’m pretty sure that Sangmin was a schizophrenic in both timelines and killed Haemi’s mother. He most likely also killed his brother in the past timeline so that he would be able to succeed his father. He most likely hated his family in both timelines for what that did to his mother. TBH it probably didn’t end well for him in the first timeline as he would have slowly deteriorated then. Still, because we are focused on Jihyun, we didn’t get to see it. In the beginning, I too desperately wanted to see them become best friends and scale the medical world together, but that was never going to happen. The only person who has changed is Jihyun, and that’s only because he got to see where his life led if he continued as he was. I genuinely believe that if Sangmin had been able to see his life and get a chance to restart, he would have been better. Though he would have to go back to when he was in elementary to keep himself from killing his stepmother.
He’s one of the main reasons I love this story because it is shown that villains don’t come out of nowhere; they are created by circumstance and decide to be bad. Sangmin had every opportunity to mend his ways, let go of his hatred and move on, but he chose instead to embrace the monstrous part of himself. Now he is paying the consequences. Don’t forget for all the science in this story; it is still fantasy. A part of his life (his nightmares) is being invoked by an outside source (the celestial brother and sister). Thus, things like Jihyun doing all that research alone is believable.

Both of your opinions are valid. I just wanna put in my own thoughts on this.
No matter what, Jihyun really is a cheater. Maybe he could've done better by trying to contact the people actually responsible for all that he claimed in his current life (the products, the research) but tbh, he also save others from having tremendous losses from their failures until they actually succeed. So I think it's not necessarily a bad thing. And true, the research is something that you did by gaining another view at a lot of other medical journals. So people can still use his to make another research and make them better? No need to look at it negatively, they can still get better. And whatever it is, Jihyun's medical prowess is his own effort. And using them too early in his life now? So what? He can save more people now. His wish to save people s genuine, and he never try to sabotage people using his talent. Not even when he's trying to stay low. He still ended up voicing his opinions because this involves people's lives.
On Sangmin, we don't really know what happened in Jihyun's previous life, so he could be better, but he could still be the same asshole. The trigger is still the same, and that is the father. Even if Jihyun is not there, do you think a person that look down on others will let Sangmin have a piece of mind? No matter what he did, he will still be abused mentally. But still, whatever happened in the past life, the present life is the one that matter now, and what matters now is that Sangmin is not a good person. No matter what circumstances he faced to make him this way now, it doesn't take away his sins. And he sins a lot. He continues to do it. That's the thing. A lot of stories wants to make a villain redemption arc, and that's fine. I'm ok with that. But no matter if a former villain repents, it doesn't take away their past wrongdoings. And the victims of those will never forget that. The villains will have to live forever remembering that some people will never forgive them for life. From the look of it, Sangmin doesn't repent.
If you actually read comment this until the end, congratulations, you are persistent hahaha. I feel like I just type in nonsense lol.
Ah no, for the researches, its impossible it was sang min who did that. Given his priorities is revenge for his mother, he most possibly wouldn't even touched research and focus on surgery. Journals published on the other had, without previous data, are done by research companies/groups and rarely by individuals. Jihyun had knowledge prior hand so he was able to colate the necessary information he needed for it. Not that it didnt require him skills but his knowledge of the past helped.
In jihyuns past, i doubt he even got in touch with sang min again when he became a doctor, more so would he have applied in the same hospital given his status being poor. He wouldn't have had enough credentials and money to admit himself at a prestigious hospital. He also made his own clinic when he got more skilled.

True. No matter what happened in the past, Sangmin's circumstances doesn't change. The only thing that changed is that Jihyun put himself into highlight in front of him, making him even more desperate.
