Foam of the Sea
An unexpected gem, I feel like more people should talk about this. Did I consumed too much shoujo brain rot? Idk, but really this manhwa is worth a read.
The premise twists the typical reincarnation trope into something unique with a message. It also includes this cute reference to the little mermaid.
Magerat dies at the hands of her lover, poisoned, thrown into the sea and labled as the witch who set fire to the local forest. But she's reborn in this seafoam-like form as Mag and is found by Jack. They're both connected by fate in this very unexpected twist I did not see coming.
The story's all about this constant war between north and south, how the people of both sides suffer from the actions of their leaders, and the inevitable responsibility of having been born into a position of power. At least that's what I see in the story. It's very well reflected in Mag. As Margaret she couldn't handle the weight that came with her rank, but as Mag she learns how important that duty and how shortsighted she was, and especially the inevitablity of her own death.
The whole story is both intruiging and tragic, but I believe it carries an important message. The sins of our fathers should not be repeated, and the tragedy of war avoided under any cost because otherwise we'll pay with the blood of the innocent.
