To all those that are criticizing this one.
First, it's not because a manga is about twisted and abusive relationshpis that it means it's ok to be in one like that. And I find it interesting to read about them specially because I'm not having this type of relationship and I'm curious about this in a psychologic point of view.
Second, IRL people in this kind of relationship are generally suffering from great personality disorder, be it from a previous trauma or not. And this is the only way they know how to relate with people, love and physical stuff. They're rarely able to change, and when their personality foundations are too shaken, they just go crazy. Just look at how Keiji didn't even realise in what way his relationship with Sou has changed. And just so you know, even if most people aren't like that, we all have those tendencies inside us. It doesn't mean that we could really be like that. It's just that somehow, you can find all the human tendencies in everybody, it's just that we are most of the time uncounscious of it.
And if I had to guess the author's motivation about this manga, it'd be that she's somehow acquainted with this type of personality (the story is very realistic on that aspect), but she still wanted her protagonists to be happy in the end (because the ending is most unlikely to happen IRL).

No, they're not suffering from a personality disorder. People are GENERALLY taught that this is acceptable behavior in our masculinized societies. ANYone can be abusive OR abused to this extent. (You mentioned that yourself so I guess either you think we must all have a personality disorder OR you don't know what you're talking about, which I think is more likely.) But it IS for that reason that this is NOT about 'exploring' those relationships but actually ENTRENCHING the normalization of abuse. THAT is why people are outspoken against this. I mean people 'without' a personality disorder that is, by (I'm sure what you believe is) YOUR logic.
There is no consent to this relationship whatsoever. That is what entails ABUSE, after all.... Thx.
